Pretty much it. We need another cornerstone to rebuild the franchise. We are playoff pretenders by 2013-2014, and contender by 2014-2015 IMO. We just need some time.

The other factor here is IF (big IF) Galchenyuk makes the team.

According to most, this should have helped the team...
I disagree and I wouldn't compare Markov to the other two. His 2nd ACL surgery should have been 6 month recovery which would have it had him healthy right around the time he signed his extension last summer. At the very least, October was an easy guess. I remember at the time of his second surgery around the time Martin was fired, it was said Markov could've played but had the 2nd surgery to clean some fluid so he could be 100%.

Basically, what I'm saying is not lump Markov with Pronger/Savard. It's so frustrating (but understandable) seeing people discard the General. I think he'll be back at at least 90% of his past form this year. He's too smart and too physically committed to not come to camp this year ready to dominate. I can't wait to watch him pass the puck, IMO it was the best part of watching the Habs from 05-08.

I truly think Plekanec and Markov put this team on their backs and have great years. They're the guys now, the longest standing Habs.

Since we haven't acquired a top 6 player to play with Plekanec we have to break up DD's line. I would move Cole on Pleks line.

Still not sure who would play with DD and Pacioretty. Maybe Palushaj or Bourque (assuming he can play on the RW)

I'd switch Cole and Bourque, Bourque had his best times in Calgary on the RW.

Good to know.
Now who would play LW with Pleks and Cole?
Cole is without a doubt a RW and must play there.
Moen ?

That's quite a puzzle

I want a classic lineup this season:

1st - Offensive line (most minutes)
2nd - Offensive line (3rd most minutes)
3rd - Defensive line (2nd most minutes)
4th - Energy Line (least minutes)

Having three offensive lines doesn't work. It leads to exhaustion, ice-time complaints, and goals against.

White didn't start the year, either. Was out with a groin injury...

So in the upcoming season we will have a better D and a better bottom 6, but a worse top 6.

So I think we will be better

Pacioretty-Pleks-Cole
DD-Gomez-Gionta (lol smurf line)
Armstrong-Eller-Bourque
Moen-Prust-White

Until they figure out what the hell to do with Gomez, we're stuck with a bad line on paper regardless.

There's 0 % that they do this line

Indeed, but until they get rid of him, Gomez will likely be factored into the starting lineup somewhere. I just didn't know where so I made that lol line. Possibly, Patches and DD might switch places. Every line you try to fit Gomez into looks bad on paper, except for that old Pacioretty-Gomez-Gio line.

We should have kept the Wiz. I'm sure he would have accepted a discount to stay with the Habs. Also, he was really clicking with Subban on the PowerPlay and was still better defensivly then Kaberle, Campoli, Emelin (at the beginning of the season) and Diaz (at the beginning of the season). Future is looking bright though with a very good prospect pool hopefully guys like Leblanc, Palushaj, Geoffrion and Gallagher will finally be ready to take on full time NHL duties.
