Realistically it goes on Vancouver's side, but I don't think Gillis will trade Kassian

The ++ definitely goes on the Vancouver side.

Not if he wants to keep face with the paying public. I get the impression people weren't thrilled with him trading Hodgson for Kassian and I doubt people would be happy if he turned around and flipped him right away.

Plus, why would Philly want to do this trade anyway?

+ goes along with Kassian, but I think if we take the time to develop Kassian he'll be much better than Simmonds. No deal from either side.

If I'm trading out Kassian there better be a Ryan coming back.

Ryan is the proven player so we'd add, but the Ducks may wanna move out Ryan and grab a player who can maybe develop into a lesser version plus maybe another prospect or pick.

No way Gillis trades Kassian before figuring out what we actually have in him. If he fulfils his potential then he will be worth way more, but thats a big if.

A rather large addition would need to be added by Van to have Philly even look at it. Just because Van get fleeced by Buffalo doesn't mean their going to be able to fleece someone else.
It's not even close - these threads are getting embarrasing.

Why would the Flyers trade a 30 goal scorer for Zach Kassian?

Well technically simmonds isn't a 30 goal scorer (yet)
And kassian has equal or greater potential. He's still very young for his style of play. He could end up being hartnell.

I'd wait another year before calling a career year where he almost doubled his highest goal total a norm for him. Especially since even in the OHL he only passed 20 goals once

Way too soon to call it a fleecing one way or the other, imho. Kassian is a year behind in his development from Hodgson, so right now Buffalo has the better player, but in 5 years that might not be true at all. Kassian put up better numbers than Hodgson in the AHL; he has a lot of upside. He also has a long way to go to be a good NHL player, but to call it a fleecing at this point is laughable, coming from a Sabres fan.

I look at Kassian's high end comparable as a Bertuzzi, can skate handle the puck and pass. People need to realize Bert didn't have his coming out party until 25-26, he is 21 now, so give him at least 4-5 years.

This. Happy Simmonds is working in Philly, so I understand why they don't do it without our plus, but we pass as well.

Both teams say no. I love Simmonds, but Kassian has all the talent and work ethic in the world to exceed him - and as of now, he has lower value than Simmonds because he's done less at the NHL level.

as a flyers fan, i'd be much happier with the flyers making a play for burrows over giroux and replacing jags with burrows on the first line

Isn't Simmonds basically what Kassian hopes to be?

This was a bad proposal on the Flyers board. Why did you think it would change on the main board?

I think people were shocked by the trade but definitely warmed up to Kassian after his first handful of games AND after rumors of Cody's meddling agent/dad came out

I don't think either team does this - both would see the other needing to add based on their high hopes for their (both, recently acquired) players
