With a current payroll of $68,848,867 per CapGeek, Minnesota will likely have to dump salary when the new CBA is completed and the cap goes down.

To Minnesota: Steve Mason

To Columbus: Niklas Backstrom

This reduces Minnesota's payroll to $65,748,867. That may not still be enough.

However, Columbus gets a proven back up for Bobrovsky, and Minnesota allows Harding to become the starter. Mason gets a change of scenery, and he's a threat to push Harding for the starting job.
In what world does Backstrom play 2nd fiddle to Bobrovsky?

Don't let Minnesota get cap room...they made their bed and now they get to lie in it.

Please go to this thread and learn something about our cap "issue".

For real people, Minnesota is in no trouble with the cap, this season OR the next one.

What cap problem? If the cap gets lowered, salaries would be rolled back along with it. Minnesota does NOT have a cap problem.

Apparently signing two big free agents to reasonable cap friendly deals means you automatically have a cap problem?
