Gagner + Whitney packaged together?

What can Edmonton acquire sending Gagner and Whitney as a package?

Based on what all the rocket scientists on these boards think with their extensive knowledge of the NHL, and hockey in general - I'm going to say a 2nd round pick, but the Oilers have to add their 3rd.
In real life, probably a Dman with some youth and good potential (maybe end up being a 2-4 Dman on most squads.)
But again, I'm just a stupid Canadian who's watched hockey for the last 30 years, so what the hell would I know......

I think this is an interesting question, I don't think as much as an Oil fan would like, as Whitney is coming off injury issues. I have seen gagners value move a fair bit. Seeing as your needs is a dman, maybe a top four guy, which Whitney could be, but there is question marks around him at the moment. I would probably hold onto him being honest, and just deal Gagner for a solid dman.

Not much ! Gagner a under size 2 c and Whitney with his injuries . We need D and we are better of holding on to Whitney and hope his injuries are behind him . Any Gm taking a chance On a player That been Injuried and had his production drop way down will not pay much .
Whitney = 3rd right now unless he turns him game around
Gagner = early 2nd late first round . This is coming from an Oiler fan . We either wait for Whitney to turn his game around and Gagner to break out or we will get a lot less then we would like

Probably not enough to make the trade worth while for Edmonton. That is the reality in my opinion.

I think this is the type of deal that would happen. Both for an upgrade player and a downgrade player.

I doubt a team wants to pay that much money to an inconsistent player (Gagner) and two guys made of glass, albeit great players. Hemsky and Whitney are both very good but their injury concerns out weights the fact that they're good. They're almost always injured it seems.

Why use up that much capspace for those 3 players? If they were healthy sure.

Inconsistent?? Gagner in his 5 years in the NHL has put up 49, 41,41,42,47 points in 79, 76,68,68,75 games.(All with fairly Crappy teams i might add) You're right though that seems pretty inconsistent to me
