I voted in the 4-5 million range but I would like to amend that.

I see him getting a very similar contract to Eric Johnson at 4 years and 15 million (3.75 cap hit)

That'd be wonderful, and I'd be very, very pleased with that--particularly since Subban's better than Johnson.

Sign him to the limit of next RFA status @3M per year.

He can't get more money than Josh Gorges. On his next contract most probably because he will have rounded out his capabilities and get 4M+

Really depends on the term of the contract. Each extra year if more costly as they are is last RFA years or first UFA years.

A 4 year contract would be the worse as it would bring him right to is UFA status. So either a 2 year deal for about 7M (3.5M per year) or a 6-7 year deal to buy UFA years ahead of time for a lower cap hit. As long as its not a 4 year deal. Ideally, like Price, 2 years to see what he as and make sure he is a stud, and then you give away the 6-7 year contract when he still as 2 years of RFA.

This is a real hard one to call...he should avg around 3.5 to 4.0M and who knows on the term, probably 2 yrs, but could be as long as 6 years...

It depends on the term, I expect 2 years and about 3.5-4 mil/year. If they go 4-5 years then it will be closer to 5 mil/year.

I was thinking 3.5 to 4.0 million per year. Keep it to the low side, and keep the term low for now. Prove the sophomore slump is over. I think it is - we saw improvements before the end of last season.

Does it really matter how much he's going to get paid? He's arguably the teams' best dman, and if he isn't, he will be soon.

The question is more length of deal, whether he'll sign short term (2 years) or long term (6 + years).

6 years around $4.5 - $5 million would be my preference, would like to see him locked up long-term with Price.

If it's a 6 year term, I'd say 24M

Anything above 3 years would leave him in UFA territory once the contract expires, no?

I'm surprised there is talk that Bergevin might go down that route, I expect to see a 3 year deal max, that brings him to his last year of being a RFA, then sign him longterm.
