We also took advantage of that draft lottery and selecting our franchise player so we can't really complain

I believe they are talking about the Lockout season Lottery and the Habs were fortunate to get the 5th pick and Carey Price is the franchise player of whom they speak.Last season the lottery changed nothing for the Habs, they chose in the position they finished and took Galchenyuk.

I know what they were referring to.
There was a lottery for the remaining teams.
Pittsburgh was always going to get the 1st overall selection.

I'm really excited to have a good prospect pool like we have now.

Do you guys think Galchenyuk can end up as a perennial point-per-game player?

So what happened before the lock out and after the lock out? Was it a 1 chance out of 30 lottery, or did they take into consideration the pre lock out ranking?

It's going to be a glorious day when Galchenyuk is on the Habs roster, and he and Subban are chirping each other on Twitter.

I don't know if it's been asked, but since Rick Dudley wasn't involved in the draft, have we heard his comments post-draft on our draft selections?

On the radio here.

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1228363

He only talks about Galchenyuk, though.

I enjoyed listening to this: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/FanAu...-Interview.mp3

It's Dudley on a Toronto radio station. He talks about Galchenyuk, some of the free agent signings, and then talks about teams around the league.

He really shows how much he knows, as he lists Nashville's whole defensive depth chart

...ergo there was fraud. Of course!

Back then, I remember people predicting the league would fix the lottery for the Rangers, as it's the biggest market, giving Crosby massive exposure.

The Rangers market was never in jeopardy. They couldnt possibly lose Pittsburgh because they had a history in the league with Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, had won multiple cups. Giving them Crosby out of the lottery was a calculated plan to help them advertise a change in the losing culture of the team and make the arena deal possible. In turn that helped keep Pittsburgh in the NHL and now a very lucrative franchise.

The worst team in the league picked first, and the Stanley Cup winner picked last. The odds against that scenario happening without tampering were a bit on the steep side...

I always thought something was up. If anyone remembers the draft lottery on t.v., all you had to do was look at brian burkes face, he knew for sure. He should have been happy getting ryan but he wasn't at all. He knew he wasn't getting crosby.

Your hockey "business" conspericy theory, would make the NHL a pathetic bush league organization. For your information, before the 2005 lottery, there were conspiracy theories all over the place. But guess what? NOBODY had Pittsburgh pegged as one of the teams that the NHL would rig the draft for. Back then it was LA, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, etc. Now all conspiracists’ know that Pittsburgh was the perfect destination for Crosby to go. Call me naive, but I believe that no matter which team got Crosby, somebody would have found a way to call it a conspiracy.
