OMG, my first stickied thread other than a GDT. Luv the mods. <3
To answer your question, I think he's a good 2 years away, but I don't think that's being overly generous or harsh, I think it's a good, honest assumption. He might impress during training camp and the preseason, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawks take the Saad route: 2 games to start the regular season then back to Finland.

you missed Clendening. Other than that, great job listing all these guys.
Does anyone know how soon Teravaianen is away from being a full-time NHL player?
Real tough to say but most scouts think he's probably 1-2 years away. It all depends on how his off-seasons go and how he continues to develop. The only holes in his game right now are the fact that he is weak (he's really not all that small) compared to the men in the FEL. He still put up points there, quite well, but he didn't really win a lot of board battles our out muscle (unsurprising, but he didn't lack a willingness to try).
So what is said is that he's already scored well against men but he hasn't really played a full game well against men. Not to say he'll ever be a dominant two player but he still needs more. His game is NHL ready, his body is not. Let's not forget he's basically the youngest player drafted this year.
So I'd say best case is he comes in year after next. He's already shown incredible development over the last year so it's possible he's ready for the year after next. Most have him ready the year after that though.
players I will be most interested in following this season:
#1: Teuvo - c'mon everybody is psyched about this kid.
#2: McNeil l- how will he handle his first pro season?
#3: Danault - same as above
#4: Whitney - we desperately need a solid goalie prospect, he was picked in the 7th, but I have a good feeling about him
#5: Beach - I think everybody is interested and frankly nobody has a clue how he is going to be this year.
McNeill and Danault won't be turning Pro until the 2013-14 season. They'll be returning to their junior teams should they not make Chicago in October (or whenever the NHL season starts up).
I'm most interested in Teravainen, Fournier and A. Broadhurst. I'll be watching Alex alot in London next year.

Yeah, Teuvo is probably two years away, maybe even three. He'll stay with Jokerit for two years and might have to spend some time in Rockford before making the jump up to the NHL.
CHL players must remain in the CHL if they are under 20 years old by December 31st of that year. They can play in the NHL, but must be returned to CHL if sent down. So Brandon Saad, who was born in 1992 can play in the AHL but Mark McNeill+Phillip Danault, born in 1993 are either NHL or CHL.

so the reason McNeill and Danault played 7 games in the AHL were cause their CHL seasons ended?
For kids drafted out of the CHL who are not 20 by December 31st of the year they would be turning Pro, they must remain in the CHL. For Kids drafted out of the USNTDP or Europe who go on to play in the CHL (Like Morin), they can turn AHL Pro before turning 20 in the same year because they're not bound to the transfer agreement between the CHL/NHL.
Of course, any player, drafted out of any league can make the NHL at any point... but for kids drafted out of the CHL, it's the NHL or CHL until they turn 20 in the year they'd be making the jump to the AHL/Pro.

Could be in 2013 could be never, there are 1000s of factors that go into that. Being 17 he still has a lot of growing a maturing to do before seeing an NHL rink.
Realistically 3 years, would be enough time for his game, body and mind to grow and mature enough to be ready for the NHL.

Unless they exceed the game limit of course then it's NHL or bust.
my hometown Team signed former Hog Pete MacArthur. Can somebody tell me more about him. He's small and more of a playmaker, right? More Center or LW? I think he plays a bit gritty?
So the Hawks have Carter Hutton, Alec Richards, Mac Carruth and Kent Simpson signed right?
Carter Hutton will be the starter in Rockford to start and I'm sure Alec Richards will be in Toledo.
So who do you guys think wins the job in Rockford? Does the better goalie get sent down to Toledo? Think about it, would you rather have your young goalie getting starts and playing time in Toledo or being a backup in Rockford? It should be interesting to see how it all plays out. Maybe Simpson and Carruth both get sent to Toledo to start and they'll rotate starts.
