They shouldn't, certainly. I thought the discussion included the players and how the media hubbub could be a distraction to them.

Humans are humans. No doubt Luongo has deep feelings about his situation. Does that mean it will negatively impact the Canucks to the point that he _must_ be moved at an arbitrary deadline? Nope.
I've maintained all along that Luongo and Schneider would never consciously cause any type of problem. As you say, tho, humans are humans and unhappy athletes, no matter how hard they fight it, can eventually be worn down by a less than ideal situation.

Arbitrary deadline? No. But wouldn't it be ideal to get this done and over with so everyone can move on? Teams need to get their rosters decided going into camp. And is it fair to Luongo, who has gone above & beyond for the Canucks, to leave him dangling when he could be getting settled in with a new team and teammates? I would think there would be enough respect and appreciation from the Canucks organization to try to move him as soon as possible because he doesn't deserve to sit around indefinitely wondering what his future holds.

I don't see where he says he wants anonymity. The way I see it, it's either a hockey market (CHI, TOR) or FLA so he can be with family. CLB is not happening.

If that isn't the quote you were referring to, my bad.
I'm talking about how in the same quote he mentioned wanting to play in front of a packed house in a hockey hotbed and in the next breath he mentioned how he enjoyed being able to have dinner with his family in peace. That quote tells me that he is playing the smart politically correct game so he doesn't step on any toes.

A young rising team who has made no improvements in the standings. I like a lot of what TO is starting, but be objective, they are still missing the two biggest holes to fill, and another loosing season on top of that and then he would be able to see big money and going anywhere he wants. Look at Nash, and that team has been more successful.

I have a very unpleasant memory of going to a Bolts/Panthers game in Sunrise when we took 51 shots in regulation on Luongo. We still lost the game. He was unbelievable back then, anyone who thinks otherwise didn't watch him play.

We must be talking about two different things. No worries, I'll just drop it.

I think both he and management are starting to try and move on, I just disagree that it changes the time table. All are professionals, and will look to do it when it makes sense.

Someone said "keep him," and got the response "we have the option to." Then I asked if "it's time to move on" meant Luongo or Schneider, because I thought that pretty much removed the option to "keep him." It wasn't referring to the timetable unless I missed something.

We have the option to wait it out until the trade deadline for a team to get desperate. Although I think Gillis will wait and see how FLA does with Versteeg and trade Luongo to the highest bidder (probably Toronto) just before the arbitration period (July 20).

He still gets the intense media scrutiny that he wants to escape from in Vancouver though - perhaps worse.

Probably not what he wants.
It may be a morgue now but it is different when the on ice product is good. Back when The leafs put a good team on the ice and we were constant cup competitors the ACC was as loud as any other building.

Constant cup contenders? They've won 5 playoff rounds since the ACC opened in 1999. All early on but they weren't exactly constant cup contenders.
