- Cap hits are about equal.

- Buffalo gets a vet player that can play center or wing.

- Sharks get a top 6 winger, a top 4 D-Man with top pairing potential, and a quality prospect that projects to either a 3rd line C or 2nd line winger.
I really don't see Marleau commanding a return like that. At least one player needs to be taken out of that package.

DONE!

Unlike San Jose... we want to get rid of our turd core, not try to win with them for another 2 years
In that case, Regier sholuld have let him walk to Edmonton. Actually, Regier should have let him walk to Edmonton practically no matter how much you like Vanek. That would have been the best decision he ever made. The Oilers would still have sucked, and the Sabres would have had an additional five high picks and/or a ******** of highly tradeable assets.

This!! Sekera is a solid Dman; a Great puckmover; has solid board play despite his size. He was by far the Best/Steadiest Dman we had last season. He gets soo much **** from dumb noob Sabres fans who just like to find whipping boys when the team isn't doing well.

Not sure what more jam up the middle means. If you mean jam like sticky, then maybe Marleau isn't your best bet. If you mean jam like fast, then Patty is your guy.

If you mean jam like he has a sense a rhythm, then your screwed. Sharks haven't had a guy with rhythm since Mike Grier.
Jam = physical play.

The whole reason behind the Roy for Ott & Pardy deal was that Regier said he wanted to "up the team's compete level" and make them harder to play against.

Marleau has size, but he doesn't use it in a physical way to wear opponents down.

Regier wants to make the Sabres tougher to play against physically. I don't see adding Marleau fitting in with the couple of moves that Regier has made so far this off season and with what he's publicly talked about with regards to the center position.

I like Leopold more than a lot of Sabres fans do. I'd probably pass and then get a 2nd or more at the deadline if the Sabres were out of it since both are a year away from UFA.

Well, if Murray doesn't work out one way or the other, he can also be dealt at the deadline and his value has been a 2nd as well. That trade would conceivably give you a 3rd and still have that option to rent out for a 2nd.

The Sabres have enough grit on the backend with the likes of Regehr, Weber, and McNabb with Myers also playing a more physical game as he matures.

The need to add more physical players is up front, especially at center and within the top 6 forwards.

I'd consider it. Leo is a good offensive contributor from the back end, but Myers and Ehrhoff should make up for it if they can stay healthy. Wilson's physical game would be a welcome addition to Buffalo, but I agree we definitely need that physicality much more in our top 9 forwards than in our bottom 4 D.
