Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf - next contracts

What do you think there next contracts will look like?

Lets assume Perry has a 'normal' season - 40g 40a 80pts

and Getzlaf has 30g 50a 80pts

If they both return to form, would they get similar contracts to Parise...

Lets assume the new CBA doesn't restrict years, etc.... Obviously if the CBA changes drastically, their contracts will reflect that.

Anywhere between 6 and 8 mil in any situation.

No point in speculating until the CBA.

I would love to give them matching contracts at something like 6 years 6.5-7. Honestly, I just hope we can keep them. I dont care about overpaying them.

No chance that years do not get capped in the CBA.

However, 10-12 years ~8 mill cap hit

It really depends on how the CBA works out. Both of them have certainly been on par with Parise the last few years and could earn a similar long term 100 million dollar from free agency, but front loaded contracts could be eliminated in the next cba. (I don't believe we should ignore this in this thread because it is more than likely going to happen) Lets say they change the cap rules to be based on actual earnings then the best comparison would be Eric Staal who signed an 8.25 mill per year contract in 2009. With cap inflation they could be earning 8.5+ from free agency (even if the cap drops slightly which I think if anything would stagnate for a few years rather than drop). If they go into free agency willing to split up in order to take a pay raise, I wouldn't be surprised if Getzlaf got 9 mill a year and Perry a little less with big market teams Toronto and Detroit both having plenty of cap space. If they want to stay together I could see 2 long term 8 mill per year contracts.

Getzlaf has 11/19/19 goals in the past 3 seasons, yet he's going to score a career high of 30 this upcoming year(scored 25 four years ago)?

At what point, is your gm expected to start extension talks?

I remember reading how unhappy they were about the gm's threat to make trades.I'm guessing their first choice is to remain in Anaheim and get some sort of NTC in their new deals.

I have a feeling that Perry is more likely to bolt to a big market team for money and will probably get a bigger contract than Getzlaf.

I don't recall either of them ever saying that. At all. And Murray has already started talking with their agents. I'm assuming it will be a longer process.

Perry's next contract will be 8 years, 68 mil from the Hurricanes.

You heard it here first.

Getzlaf probably needs a change of scenary, based on his play the last couple of years, he is not worth anything north of 6 million, but someone will overpay.

6.7m 10 years for Getzlaf is my feeling and Perry will do something in the same ballpark.

I don't care what the cost is, just get them both re-signed...

Although I'd prefer it be under $8M per year.

Seriously, for a #1, 6 ft 4, physical centermen. He had a bad year last year but two years ago he was marginally over a ppg.

I think most of the GMs in the NHL would cut off their left nut for him. Wouldn't be surprised if Burke cut both off.

In 2010-11, Getzlaf finish 6th in PPG and 11th overall in scoring.

Before this past abysmal season he had 4 seasons in a row with over a point per game.

Nope, I meant the Canes.....the leafs suck and have for a while. Anyone interested in winning isnt going there. Not that the Canes are killing it in the W department, but there are a bunch of names on that big silver thing that played for the Canes a few years back.

Canes are going to overpay for someone, particularly a scoring winger. Save them the effort next summer and just trade Bobby Ryan to them.

Enjoy.

Getzlaf: Something between 6.5 and 7 mill IMO. He bought a house in SoCal, has a wife from here, they just had a baby and he doesn't like media attention. He also stated he would love to be a "one team guy". He'll take a small discount from what he could make on the open market to stay IMO.

Perry: Anything north of 7 mill. Probably 7.5 or something like that if he stays. I could see Perry leaving the Ducks to play in a Canadian market. Don't see any chance for an American team any other than Anaheim. Could very well stay here though and play with his friend Getzlaf.

Either way, IMO the Ducks should get something done before the new CBA. There will be new rules and they might limit the players opportunity to make big money. Both could take offense if the Ducks wait and hope for contract limitations with the new CBA. I know I would. If they aren't signed by September this could get ugly IMO.

PS: One Team I would dismiss from any Getzlaf and Perry scenario is Toronto. They didn't like Caryle and I doubt they want anything of the negativity in that market. Doubt Getzlaf would want to put up with the contant critisism from the Toronto media, regardless of the money.
