This wouldn't happen, but come on. In the real world, a good goalie is worth more than a good forward, particularly to a team like Chicago that desperately needs a good goalie.
No, we're in desperate need of better puck possession.
wouldn't do it from canucks standpoint. seeing luongo 4 times a year isn't good. making chicago an actual cup contender isn't good. and hossa might not be the same after that hit.
In Philly they booed Santa Claus. Seriously, St. Nick!
Van fans are bad, as are T.O. fans... but it's a whole other level in Philly. They are ****ing brutal.
Regardless, I still don't see why Philly gives up that much value for a marginal upgrade in net, saddling themselves with an albatross contract in the process.
And Ballard, even last season, is not as good as Luke Schenn.
Agree about the brutality of Philadelphia fans, disagree about Lu being a marginal upgrade on Bryz and about Lu's contract being an albatross, and wondering if you went temporarily insane suggesting that Schenn is better than Ballard?
That wasn't a reasonable alternative. The real alternative is to go into next season with Reimer and Scrivens. Is it ideal? No but we wont tear our team or future apart for 1 player. It has to be a deal that works for both teams.
You know it seems that whenever we stop trying to argue over who has the advantage in here and start talking about players to trade we get pretty close but that doesn't seem to happen very often.
I can completely see Burke going to the see with those two, and there is even a chance it could work, I just think there is a way bigger chance it backfires, and if it does chances for ramification are huge.

I have to disagree. Lui is a huge upgrade, hell Andre Racicot might be an upgrade. And as for contracts I would also say Lui's is better.

Lu's contract is a terrible albatross, I don't see how anyone can try and debate that. He's a fine keeper, but he comes with a cap hit of 5 million until he's 43 or so years old. That's an albatross. He's better than Bryz, but not that much better when you factor in that bloody contract.
As for Schenn and Ballard, I'm really not sure how exactly Ballard is better. He doesn't hit more, he doesn't block more, he barely racks up more points, and his GvA TkA ratio is just about as bad as Schenn's, last season anyhow. Personally, I think was ruining Schenn, and I think we're all going to see a very different player in Philly. Just my opinion, though.
EDIT - Fair disclousre, I did not realize that bryzgalov's contract was similarly brutal. That's a real toss up, to tell you the truth.

Maybe, but also a good goaltender. I'm under the general impression that they are not going far with Crawford between the pipes. If the objective is simply to make the playoffs, then he'll get the job done, but not much more. The Hawks don't specifically need Luongo, and I don't think they'll even try for him, but they do need a better goalie if they have designs on another Cup.

I still think there is a deal that can be worked out that does work for both sides. Altho I think it is becoming less and less likely to happen in the real world.
Rumors keep going around that Gillis has Gardiner in his asking price and imo that just isn't gonna happen.

You do understand that he isnt going to play until he is 43 right?
He plays till 40 at the latest.

At this point I feel more on the outside then ever. Last I heard there was traction according to Lebrun, but as far as I know no team was mentioned with who there was traction. Then we get all this info from completely unreliable sources. I just don't know what to think on if a real world deal happens.
I agree there could be. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
