If he goes straight for the long term on another team then good for him.

Time will tell, I'm not going to ponder about upon of the crazy amount of potential scenarios.

Scenarios drive me insane.

Me, too.

To be honest, give him whatever the **** he wants. We're not bringing in another D-man for the top 4 without moving one of Martin/Nisky. We have the cap room to pay him 7 mil and have 12 mil in pro rated room come deadline.

Been discussion of the D, and I do think to go far in the playoffs we need to add that crease clearing defender. However, I have no problem going through the season with what we have. They will be fine in the regular season, but we'll need an upgrade at the deadline to get far.

My prediction on the defense. Martin and Orpik look closer to 2011 than 2012 form. Niskanen looks solid as the number 4 until Despres steps up enough to take the spot from him with an excellent season. We move back in to the best 10 teams for GAA this year. The PK drops down to around 10th early in the year but bounces back to finish around 5th or 6th as Despres improves.

If we get Semin, we finish as the top team in goals for and PP%.

If there is any legitimacy to these tweets and both Semin and the Pens are interested then I sure hope we can come to some middle ground that makes both sides happy. If Semin wants 4 years and Shero wants one I hope they can go two years at a high AAV to see how the fit goes and to make sure we can pay Malkin and Letang when their contracts are up.
Yeah, I tried to weed out the obvious fans, but like I said in my original post, these are probably on the same level as Rossi ... and I'm hoping right along with you. I was one of those torn between Syomin/Ryan and Parise while we were still in that sweepstakes. I'm hoping, but I have a horrible feeling that it won't happen.

Indeed. He can score 1 on 5 with his shot. Can't imagine how well he'd do with Sid and Geno taking most of the defenders (and not to mention Neal). Lordy.

Who gets more goals, Syomin or Nyoal?

I for one have really high hopes for Niskanen. For most of last season he was solid but unspectacular.. But he was sorely missed in the first part of the Flyers series, an when he came back, he was a difference maker despite a bum shoulder. He really pressed the attack and created some good things.

With him taking some of Michalek's minutes and semi-regular PP time, I think he can be a 30+ point d-man again, while not hurting you defensively.

it's going to be Ceannéidigh. didn't you hear Shero say they're going to give him a chance in the top-six.

OK ... here's one from a more reputable source ... This guy writes for Sport-Express and contributes to NHL.com. I follow him mostly for his funny, yet bitter, comments

Pretty obvious what's going on with Semin. He has a KHL offer (from CSKA), wants the same or more in the NHL, not getting it. Won't get it.
