With the graduation of Foligno, LW is the biggest weakness amongst the prospects and I think if someone falls around our draft pick area at this position, I think we'll select here.
This 2013 draft class appears to be stacked. Hopefully Darcy can acquire two 1st rounders again this year! That would be sick. If Buffalo is out of the playoff race come trade deadline...who's up for moving Leopold for a 1st? If Goose returned a 1st round pick, surely Leo could.

I'm in, I like that we're shifting our focus towards the future. We need scoring elite wingers

Here's to hoping we're not in a position to do that. Would love to acquire another first but not because we're selling off from not making the playoffs again.
If that's the case (we don't make the playoffs again) I'm moving Vanek, Pominville and Miller at the deadline as well and going for the full youth movement. If we didn't make the playoffs again with them we can't be much worse without them.

Lol. Imagine the return we could get if we packaged Vanek, Poms, and Miller together...that would never happen, but just imagine.
Barkov. Him and Armia on a line would be nice. The Finnish Connection.
Well, we shouldn't be that bad.
He's #2 behind MacKinnon based on what I've seen so far.
He's also a center but if he doesn't improve his skating he'll probably end up a winger.
I love him though, he's an intriguing blend of Finnish work ethic and Russian skill.
Someone posted it on the prospects board and I had to post it here because he's ridiculous.
And people think Seth Jones is something special physically?
This kid is just as big and a year younger (9-2-95, whereas Jones is 10-3-94).
For me this draft class looks as strong as 2006. You can't go wrong with your first round pick imo.
2008 ? I dont remember 2006 as that strong of a class at the time, but many good players have come out of it.. (Giroux, Backstrom, Toews, Kessel,Staal)
A guy I really like is Curtis Lazar, I believe he will be a guy who will rise from #12 throughout the season, reminds me of Claude Giroux.

How does he remind you of Giroux?
He's more of a two-way guy than a dynamic offensive presence.
If you want a player that is Giroux-esque, it's Jonathan Drouin.

Well, Jones has the advantage of being in a program that focuses a lot on strength training and is a year older than Barkov.
Even though Jones is more athletic and always will be, I take the player that has better sense every single time.
If anyone is bored without hockey (and isn't interested in watching the Sabres replay that's on MSG in an hour), TSN put up the Mentorship Cup on-demand, which is a scrimmage between the best 97's in Canada (so 2015/16 draft).
Here's the game: Period 1, Period 2, Period 3, Shootout (there was no OT).
The complete roster is here.
If you want to know some names to watch, I'll just go by region: Giorgio Estephan (Alberta), Mathew Barzal (British Columbia), Tyson Verhelst (Manitoba), Luc Deschênes (New Brunswick), Nathan Noel (Newfoundland), Connor McDavid (Ontario), Jérémy Roy (Québec), Jayden Halbgewachs (Saskatchewan).
The combination of Barzal/McDavid/Noel likely represent the best '97 born forwards in each of the three leagues, as Barzal and McDavid have went first overall in their leagues already and Noel is likely to go first in the Q.

The Ivan Hlinka Memorial kicked off today with the first game now final, as Canada defeated Switzerland 4-1. Fucale was in net, while MacKinnon factored in the first three goals (1+2).
Two WNYers scored for Team USA in Saturday's pre-tournament win over Slovakia. Bailey scored the first goal of the second period, while Malone scored the first of the third:
Bailey also has the lone USA goal in today's game versus Russia.
