MINNY

I'm more than man enough to use the word Minny all I want. Even to discuss such things is absolutely ridiculous. In fact I refuse to let somebody tell me what words I can say and not say.

So, you just choose to purposely annoy people by using a word that doesn't have to be used? Kinda childish, actually.

Not that we haven't had this discussion eight billion times already anyway, but:

For me, it's not so much the fact that it's kind of a stupid nickname that bugs me. For me, it's that I literally have never heard that nickname in any context other than when people who aren't from around here are discussing hockey. So by using it, you identify yourself as an outsider, and considering how abysmal the general national knowledge of the Wild is (including by the media, for ****s' sake...), that doesn't exactly predispose me to agree with or like you.

Anybody who does get annoyed by such a silly thing should really get a life. I've lived here for all my 46 years, born and bred. It's not swearing, it's just a little 5 letter word. Want to get pissed off, go argue politics or something. But to censor a silly word I actually like to use, ain't going to happen. Not with me anyways. They will have to ban me to make me stop.

This is nothing but cyber bullying, and I sir will not be bullied.

It doesn't have to be used? It can be used if the person wants to use it. To be honest, I've found it a little embarrassing when a discussion breaks out on the main board, and one of our fans scolds another fan (of a different team) for using the word. Makes all of us look a little uptight and silly. While it may have developed as "a thing" and an inside joke on this board, I don't know any friends or family members in this state that has a problem with it.

Ehhhh...your reading too far into all of this my friend. No need to get so worked up. Use Minny if you want I guess...but no need to shove it up peoples throats when they obviously have a pet peeve for the word.

This. I like running the the inside joke type thing, but I don't actually really care if people use it. I think it's funny though.

If this is what you call cyber-bullying you really do need help. And why would I discuss politics in a hockey forum, when that is banned, except for specified areas?

I guess I should get a life. Because obviously talking with you is a waste of mine.

People forcing political correctness, and or censorship down other peoples throats is one of my biggest hot buttons. Wanna get me red faced, and ready to punch somebodies lights out. That's one way to do it.

Some forums have rules about rude, crude content, and rules about cussing, but I've never seen anything anywhere saying you can't use words like Minny. That's absolutely ridiculous, and to be completely honest childish.

It's one thing to proclaim you don't like something, it's another to try and force something like this down other people's throat's and make them conform. And yes that is bullying.

Agreed. I have no problem with that. We've had some fun with it. But it doesn't need to be a big deal.

Back to Parise, Suter, and expectations..............

I'll go a step further, I'm born and bred Minnesotan. Lived here all of my 46 years. I've earned the right to use the phrase if I want.

BTW, I apologize for kinda getting the ball rolling on the Minny thing. Didn't mean for it to turn into a debate.

True. After reading the Wings, Devils, and Preds forums...I'm not crazy about us being called losers.

Could care less if someone uses Minny. I use it myself once in a while.

I wonder what Yeo can do with a revamped roster that is actually good. Last years really wasn't that great, and at one point we were #1..

So what can he do with this team ?

If they stay healthy, he should have many options. The thing to remember though is that they may need some time to adjust to each other. Granlund will certainly need some time. They may not come out of the gates running, although that's usually how things work with this team. They start off hot and then cool off at the wrong time.
