In the Upcoming Draft, the highest ranked NA player is ranked 38th

I guess something really big happened in Europe 18 years prior...

That's insane, dude! Never seen anything like that in-game yet. Once I'm finished with exams/work experience interviews I'm hoping to get some solid play in this summer. I'm hoping to get past 2030 in this file, I'm not restarting unless my file corrupts *knock on wood*

So I'm in my 4th year for the Wild.

First 2 years, was last both times. (Seguin picked 3rd overall, Larsson picked 1st overall next draft)

Third year, first 1/3 of the year I was last in the whole league. Traded Cooke + Zidlicky + 2 AHL Players + 2nd + 4 * prospect (Compared to Shawn Thornton, no big loss) for Jeff Carter + Matt Carle. Also traded... **** I forgot who, for Loui Eriksson.
I also started using Line strategies (Wow, what a ****ing difference) went on a tear, and made the playoffs that year. Beat the 1st seeded Flames in 6, but lost to the Red Wings in 5.

Anyways, come to my 3rd draft (The one where the first 37 ranked skaters are European ), and I have pick 20 or something. I trade it + Logan Couture (traded a 2nd for him in my 1st year, has barely done anything in the AHL/4th line, projected to be a 4th line center) to the Oilers for the 3rd Overall pick, and drafted this gem: (Obviously i had him in my sightlines for a few months prior)

(He has 7 points in 4 games in my 4th season, I'll get to that soon)

Anyways, in FA (here's a ******** part) i signed Scott Neidermeyer to a 2 year deal worth 10mil total (fits a huge need of a top pairing PMD) but my board vetoed it. I tried to sign him again, and they restricted me to offering 1.6mil per Pretty ridiculous.

Settled for signing Milan Hejduk and Colin Wilson (Solid player at 22... not a big fan of the huge amount of Free Agents in this game to be honest)

Here's my lineup for the 4th season... I am 4-0 and have not let in more than one goal each game.

I'm finally becoming good at this game! (PS using 2010 rosters)

Feedback Appreciated.

(PS if you're wondering, I have Jack Campbell (drafted him in the 2nd round, 31st pick of the first draft) in the minors to develop. I signed a backup goalie, but he won't be transferred til the end of the year... so for now, i'm just using the local ones as backups or whatever.)

Just did a write up on my current game for the Wild... in my 4th year, the Insane Euro draft was the 3rd draft for the 2010 rosters.

(I also got 2 really good Czech Defenders in the mid rounds of that draft, i think they'll be steals)

Its because all the NA players are probably coming out in the next draft, since Euro regens are created a year older then NA.

Usually early on in Lidas rosters there's a draft that's loaded with euro's.

I am using the latest lidas rosters and still the draft after first season was loaded with euro's, but later drafts were "normal"...

lol you didn't even scout him.. you should because you will never know what his potential looks like.. sometimes, players have good attributes at a young age but never develop because they lack potential.

Before screaming a steal, you need to know what kind of player you have in your hands

I realized that after I posted.
His report card is all B's or A-'s, and his projection Is two way 2nd/3rd line center, comparison Mikko Koivu (my captain!)

I'd really like to see some defensive tactics posted. They're hard to find!

I don't like gaming the system so I try to put up a plausible team, with the bottom 6 playing a defensive role, but those players just don't put up decent ratings and get hardly any points. Outside of the top 3-6 the points dwindle to nothing. I don't expect defensive role players to produce many points, but it would be nice to have a third line player to either put up 30-35 points once in a while, or shut down a scoring line really well. I'd really like to know how to shut down a scoring line using pluggers more than anything.

I see a few people once in a while talk about making their decent, maybe average goalie get great stats using a defensive system, and I'd like to know how specifically it's done. Any help?

Heh, I don't know what it is with my file, but I'm in the year 2060 and I can count the amount of European players who have been ranked in the top 5 in their draft years on one hand.

I thinks its due to the Euro regents generating quicker then the NA ones.

Does anyone else struggle with powerplay tactics? Seems like no matter what I try or who I have, my PP is consistently in the bottom half of the league.

Anyways, I started a new game as the Toronto Maple Leafs with the new rosters and I'm hoping I can stick to this game for a while. I have a bad habit of only playing a few years in one game, getting bored, and starting fresh with a new team.

2013-14 roster:

Phil Kessel - Tim Connolly - Jarome Iginla
Clarke MacArthur - Mikhail Grabovski - Nikolai Kulemin
Jamie Benn - Ryan Strome - Joffrey Lupul
Magnus Paajarvi - Samuel Pahlsson - Colby Armstrong

Dion Phaneuf - Kris Letang
Michael Del Zotto - Luke Schenn
Carl Gunnarsson - Colby Robak

Tuukka Rask
Eddie Lack

Missed the playoffs by one point last season. If this team doesn't make it...

I find I usually can only have 1 either a good power play of penalty kill, and seldom have both good in one season. How is your percentages for training? I usually focus on the power play because of how offensive the game is.

My team last year wasn't as good as that. Still good enough to be a playoff team but the offense totally underachieved as I was messing around with tactics.

IIRC last year's roster was something like..

Lupul - Connolly - Kessel
MacArthur - Grabovski - Kulemin
Benn - Pahlsson - Armstrong
McLaren - Bozak - Thornton

Liles - Phaneuf
Gunnarsson - Franson
Del Zotto - Schenn
Salo

Rask
Gustavsson

This year's team finished 6 points away from a President's Trophy (4th seed in the East, 2nd highest point total in the league).

Makes sense. My penalty kill is usually top-5 or top-10 most season. I don't think I've ever changed the percentages from the default 60/20/20. Maybe I should go for something like 60/25/15?

I HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!

FINALLY, after 7 ****ing years of trying to win the damn thing, my New Jersey Devils have defeated the St. Louis Blues in 6 games to become the 2014 Stanley Cup Champions!!! I finished as the 8th seed, but I had 100 points and only 11 points seperated 1 through 8 in the Eastern Conference, talk about parity...

Round 1: Defeated Capitals in 5

Round 2: Defeated Islanders in 5

Round 3: Defeated Jets in 5

Final: Defeated Blues in 6

Lines (* = AI Created player)

Kovalchuk-Zajac-Semin
Lundmark*-Patrick*-Friberg
Stalberg-Stoll-Moss
McLaren-Neal*-Clarkson

Suter-Larsson
Hannan-Bogosian
Merill-Schenn

Rask
Ortio

The Stanley Cup is finally mine! I was so happy to finally win the thing, I actually did a big fist pump in the middle of my home and celebrated with Oreos and milk afterwards.

My life is complete

Haha congrats. How do you play? Just build the team and sim? Or do you coach the games, make the tactics and such?

Build the team, let the head coach do all the tactics, mess with some of the personal tactics myself and watch all the games. Just like a GM in real life.

So, with being 60+ years into my current file, I'm thinking of actually starting a new game with the upcoming release of Lidas/Manimal 5.0.

It'll definitely be an adjustment, as when you've been playing a specific file as long as I have, you actually feel that it's your NHL. Superstars come and go, and my file has obviously been 100% regens for many many years now.

It'll be weird going back to playing with actual players and staff. Either way, I'll never delete my current file, and I'm sure I'll still go back and play it from time to time.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The Habs dynasty haha, once my superstar Fedor retires, I'm thinking of going to another NHL team or another league maybe. Might go back to junior for a bit.

I may however check out the new rosters and stuff once they come out and play a season or 2.
