One question I have is where to watch Italy/England sunday. Is there somewhere that stands out in Little Italy (I'm Italian and want to be with the home crowd )? I also plan on going there to try Lombardi's...

As for shopping, I hear good things about Uniqlo. Opinions? We'll be heading to the Woodbury outlets afterwards as well, though given that I rarely get to go to NYC I'd like to check this place out (I hear it's unique to NYC or at least doesn't have that many stores elsewhere).

That's about it for specifics. If anyone has any general tips I'm all ears. I've visited most interesting places (seen a broadway show, top of the rock, museum of natural history, central park...), and since we'll be leaving monday I just want to get as much done and have as much fun as possible.

Much appreciated.
Whatever bar you choose to watch the game, call ahead to make sure you can all get in. I went with a buddy and his cousin to a bar in Union Square to watch an Italy game during the World Cup and they carded us. Woodbury Commons has some solid stores but it's about an hour and a half away from the city. Unless it's on the way, since your time is so limited I'd skip it. I haven't gone in a few years but last time I picked up some cheap **** from North Face and Timberland.

Go to Coney Island for a little bit and then take the train over to L&B Spumoni Gardens, best pizza in NYC for sure. Not the regular pizza, but the squares.

Uniqlo is a good place to shop. It's not that pricey, but it's also not too cheap. The quality of their stuff is top-notch.

I'll be in NYC next week. YAY

One of my to-do list is visiting the Jersey shore (seaside heights).

What is the best or recommended mode of transportation from NYC to Seaside? I don't have car nor can i afford to rent a car.

The only way I can think of is taking the NJ Transit.

You can take it from Port Authority in Manhattan directly to Seaside Heights by bus.

The most overrated pizza in NYC. Can't believe so many people like it.

If you want good Brooklyn pizza go to DiFara's, 1424 Avenue J Brooklyn, NY. Won best NYC pizza numerous times.

more so for the NYC residents:

any summer events (e.g. outdoor concerts etc) that we should be taking advantage of?

I'd recommend anyone try to see a production of Shakespeare in the Park.

Do NYC Taxis accept VISAs or any other type of credit card?

What about the Subways. I honestly don't think I'll be carrying much cash on my trip.

Real yellow cabs accept credit cards, but i recommend just not taking taxis in the first place

You can buy a metro card with a credit card as well

The Subway is a lot cheaper than a Taxi, but they both accept credit cards. It's $2.25 for a one-way subway ride to anywhere in NYC and the 5-bouroughs.

Plus you get a free transfer. And the SI ferry is free (great views of the harbor, Statue of Liberty), although there's not much to do once you get to Staten Island.

By the way, NYC=the 5 boroughs.

Wow, $2.25?

Toronto's is 3 bucks for a one way subway ride, yet Toronto's subway system is pathetic for a city of its size. Everytime I look at NY subway map, I'm lost...

It was $2 just a few years ago. The MTA bleeds money, though, so prices are going to keep going up. It'll be $2.50 soon.

If you buy a single-ride, it is $2.50. If you buy more than one fare at once, then it's $2.25.

Toronto's subway system is probably more expensive because since they have way less daily riders than the MTA, they need more money from each person to help pay for everything.

A quick New York question...

What has happened to the Planet Holywood restuarant ? It was closed when I was there a month ago...

Closed down? Renovation?

I'm looking for some suggestions from people about Giants tickets. Me and some friends are coming down for a bachelor party the weekend of the 19th-21st of October. The Giants are playing the Redskins, so I know it won't be easy to just get tickets seeing as how it is the defending champs and they are playing their biggest rival.

I assume some people here have been to games and tried through scalpers/stubhub/ebay etc. I don't mind paying a few hundred, but some of the prices for a few grand are outrageous. We aren't too picky about where we sit, as long as we can get in.

Any suggestions/tips?

Ball/street/floor hockey in or around NYC

So I just graduated from college and moved to Manhattan for work, and I'm looking for a ball or floor hockey league in the area. I've found two so far, but one (ZogSports) was full when I found it and the other (BTSH) is not accepting signups at the moment I think. Does anyone know of any other leagues or even a pickup game that I could get in on? I'm really itching to play some ball hockey, so any help would rock. Thanks a ton, cheers.
