Daniel winnik

whats going on with this guy I thought with all the bottom 6 guys finding jobs he'd be signed by now. I'd like to see him sign in Toronto he'd be a solid addition to the PK and at 6-2 210 pounds he'd add another element of size.

Why isn't tis guy signed? every team can use antherr PKer

He's asking for too much. SJ was interested but balked at the price.

The Sharks would have been glad to pay $2.5M for him well before the free agent frenzy, so he's probably looking upward of $3M

He'd be great in VAN but if Hansen is only costing 1.2 then I doubt Gillis would bring in Winnik at 2 or 2+

This. Winnik was probably the most impressive 3rd - 4th liner for us last season.

His asking price is much higher than Adam Burish's, which is why Wilson signed Burish instead.

Guy is a huge pain in the ass contractually. Took the Coyotes to arbitration twice before they traded him and had some strong words about his negotiating habits. One has to believe his penchant for difficult negotiations had something to do with his trade at the deadline too. I don't know who his agent is, but they seem like a real pain in the neck.

I love Winnick. He is a great PKer and the kind of bottom 6 character you love having on your team. He's got a little scoring in him, as well.

But $2.5M is pushing it.

Supposedly all of his offers have come out east and he's stalling to try and get someone to go over the top. Any team paying him 2.5mil or more will regret it. He's probably worth somewhere in the 1.5-2mil realm.

Great PKer, but he's a complete buzzkill offensively. Slowly but surely every single one of the wingers Stastny has had to play with have been getting expunged from our team. Aside from David Jones.

Awesome PK guy, great skater with size and ability to protect the puck. Very strong on his skates, and defensive awareness. Ideally the PERFECT 4th line grinder. However, being an absolute black hole on offense makes him not that valuable as a 3rd liner in today's NHL. Sacco loved using him because hes so reliable but what he gave defensively, he took away offensively so I'd rather have someone not so reliable, but could develop offensive chemistry with his line mates. Wouldn't give him a dollar over 2.5 and thats only cause Prust was so badly overpaid.

And now he doesn't want to sign in SJ because they're not giving him enough money?

**** this guy. I thought itd be like 1.5M for 2-3 years.

If thats what hes asking for, good luck not getting booted out of what team signs him. Fans will break that guys ego down at his asking price

As was stated before he's a GM's worst nightmare when it comes to contract negotiatons. He was traded by the Avs because of his contract demands and IIRC from the Avs board Sharks didn't even offer him a contract after the season ended.

He's represented by Newport, who also represents Kyle Quincey, another ex-Av with a higher than normal sense of worth. Their client list reads like a guide to overpaid players-- Stoll, Jovanovski, Oduya, Phaneuf, Prust, Redden, B. Richards, Smyth, Stajan, and Tallinder.

But I mean if Prust who I absolutely wanted us to sign got 2.5 shouldn't Winnik get 2.5?

I wouldn't take either, but if I had a gun to my head, Id take Prust over Winnik if their price was the same.
