Yep, it's not like you are trading for washed up guys, you are getting a 30G winger, and a first line center. Like I said it depends on the package and where the organization feels Erixon is at ... if he can step right in and take top 4 mins, or if the ducks view Erixon as a top 4 dman, it would make the ducks younger, cheaper, more athletic ... and we become deeper, and most importantly stay young.
In reality the move is ducks get young and cheap and we get young/prime ready to win with a 3-5 year window. Actually the more I think about it ... it makes more and more sense.
Yeah it'd be great for a year until you have to resign those guys+other players we have who will be up for raises the next few years.
I would like to know what the rumor was, too. What's the point in deleting it? This is all speculation at this point.

"Used to be only Twinkies and cockroaches could survive a nuke. I'd add Habs to that. I'm convinced the CH stands for Club du Hypocrisy." - Gee Wally
I know where you are coming from and I was on the fence about it until I started to look at the total package and where each team could benefit at the end ... and honestly it makes MORE sense than just giving up what we are rumored to for Nash.
Boyle I assume unless slats has something else lined up
maybe sather was impressed by miller*... otherwise sadly it is looking like boyle if that trade went through. def the most interesting rumor so far. del zotto is the scariest part of the trade, but idk... he probably would survive

Reason: wrote mitchell instead of miller xD
Scenario A: Offer Staal, 1st, Skjei, our two extra 3rds, and maybe Thomas for Weber.
Sign Shane Doan for 3 years at 5.0M per
This is probably more unrealistic than the first two deals, but I would then try to trade Dubi+ (non roster pieces) for Clowe.
Ryane Clowe ($3.625m) / Brad Richards ($6.667m) / Marian Gaborik ($7.500m)
Chris Kreider ($1.325m) / Derek Stepan ($0.875m) / Shane Doan ($5.000m)
Carl Hagelin ($0.875m) / Artem Anisimov ($1.875m) / Ryan Callahan ($4.275m)
Taylor Pyatt ($1.550m) / Brian Boyle ($1.700m) / Arron Asham ($1.000m)
Mike Rupp ($1.500m) /
DEFENSEMEN (switch McD and DZ)
Michael Del Zotto ($2.000m) / Shea Weber ($7.500m)
Ryan McDonagh ($1.300m) / Dan Girardi ($3.325m)
Tim Erixon ($1.750m) / Anton Stralman ($1.300m)
Stu Bickel ($0.750m) / Michael Sauer ($1.250m)
Henrik Lundqvist ($6.875m)
Martin Biron ($1.300m)

I'd like to think we'd get a little more back there... I think this would tell you that the Rangers have a lot of confidence in Erixon... Also, maybe MDZ is looking for a higher raise then we thought and Rangers were unimpressed by the NJD series?
After watching some old recorded games from last season, I realized that just like most people on this board, I have been enamored with the idea of a shinny new toy, such as Nash, Ryan or Semin.
I totally forgot what the real issue was, our 3rd line couldn't do ****, and should of actually been our 4th line. The most common complaint on this board wasn't about Stepan, Callahan, or our top 6 guys. We'll maybe dubi but he was demoted pretty early on, but was that Boyle and Prust should not be on the third line.
With Kreider coming up he helps solve this a little, but I think if we can sign a guy like Kostitsyn, or even Huelius and have them play 3rd line minutes this team will be able to survive until gaborik is back, and really be a force once he is playing.
Lets take a look at our lineup during the Winter Classic, compared to what it would be with the addition of a third liner.
Winter Classic Lineup:
Anisimov Stepan Gaborik
Callahan Richards Hagelin
Dubinsky Boyle Mitchell
Feds Rupp Prust
Fake 2012 - 2013 Lineup
Callahan Stepan Kreider (Gaborik*)
Dubinsky Richards Kostitsyn or Huselius (Kreider*)
Hagelin Anisimov Pyatt (Kostitsyn or Huselius*)
Asham Boyle Rupp (Pyatt*)
(*) = Line up when Gaborik is back
When Gaborik is back this lineup could potentially have a 3rd line of 3 30 pt players, I don't believe there is any other team in the NHL that has that type of depth.
While Teams won't have to worry about game planning to stop a two stars, they will have to spread their top 6 thin in order to prevent their third line from being taken to school.
