26 year old + 1st in a strong draft for Zetterberg does not accomplish that.

Not that I'm bashing Zetterberg or anything, just the Canucks don't need him.
Worth noting that last year at this time, everyone was calling 2012 a strong draft.

From the blues I'd want Callahan and Del Zotto

this

and that's even if you ignore the strong loyalty the Wings tend have to their players which makes a trade highly unlikely at best even if the Wings were able to get what they feel is a fair return for him

If we had them, I don't think we would be inclined to give them to you.

rofl, yeah not happening. Staal/MDZ + Dubinsky + pick or prospect sure. Remember age etc. We're not trading Callahan.

And ''the blues'' that's not the Rangers... That's St. Louis Blues

Zetterberg has played LW before and is a fine playmaker, not to mention good defensively. Losing Edler sucks but Garrison makes up for that point shot on the power play. We lack goal scoring and Zetterberg would help us tremendously in that department.

If nothing else, we move Kesler to RW.

You're acting like having 3 strong centers is a bad thing. Crosby-Malkin-Staal worked out quite well. Zetterberg or Kesler can play the third line (oh yeah, our 3rd line wingers are quite potent themselves) and facilitate for their wingmates and give us 3 scoring lines, 2 of which can provide lockdown D.

What is the Sedins' current window? 3-4 years? So is Zetterberg's. Gotta win now. Edler won't exactly be the piece that keeps us competitive for 1 years.

what? lol. where did you hear that crazy rumor? that doesn't fit with zetterberg's personality at all.

Value of Henrik Zetterberg?

Still very, very high. So much so that pretty much no team in the league would be willing to overpay as much as Detroit would want in order to move him.

Get real.

Zetterberg is twice the value of Staal, even with age taken into consideration.

Isn't Zetterberg capable of playing LW, which he does when he gets put on the same line as Datsyuk?

And isn't Kesler capable of playing the right wing, which he did with Sundin?

One of them can shift to the wing.... or they could rotate who plays center depending on where the faceoff is. Z is a left shot and Kes is a right shot, no?

Zetterberg is one of those players that I just can't imagine ever playing for another team - ( Swedish national team aside).
