The Wild is my team from start to Finnish but there are a few other teams that are fun to watch like the Flyers, Habs and Caps. I even do enjoy an Ottowa game from time to time because I have always been an Alfie fan.
The Pens-Flyers series; best damn series I have seen in a long long while.
I also enjoy watching the Finnish team in the WC. Shout out to all the Finnish brothers that made that happen
And of course the Czech republic and Slovakia...soft spot...
Chicago. My dad's entire family is from the Chicago area so I was innundated with all things Chicago as a kid. Stll have love for the Cubs and Bulls (I like to see them do well, not that I ever watch the NBA anymore) but hate the Sox and don't really care about the Bears one way or another anymore.
Don't mind the Hawks at all, but I am so sorry you're a Cubs fan...
I live in Wrigleyville and boy is that an experience! By the way, they're really really bad... I've never seen a group of fans be so loyal, to a team that sucks so much, and get so excited when they score AT ALL, even if they're getting their butts kicked... And they're always really really drunk....
Do i need to say what mines is myself here or should l let OTH and Talon say it?
Only one other team i follow closely besides the Wild and that is the Red Wings, whatever you hate about all the success they've had, they run their organization the right way, and their star players are the greatest ambassodor's for the game of hockey not just on the ice, but off it. Lidstrom, Yzerman, Federov, Larionov, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, you can't hate them like a Ms. Cindy because of his antics, nothing but the greatest respect in the world for them and that's why i like the Wings as my 2nd favorite team.
As a Winnipegger I look to Minnesota as kindred spirits.
You guys getting the Wild back gave our city hope.
Years later, we're getting our first glimpse of hockey relevance in Minnesota at the draft.
I remember years ago, whenever i'd see the Jets it would be vs. the North Stars. (a lot of times on Boxing Day if I recall correctly.)
It was a very good rivalry.
It should be resurrected.
I took in the Jets vs. Wild game in December and shook hands with a Wild fan, that made the trip down, at the end of the game. It was a nice moment.
It will be another year still before we get moved to a more reasonable division. But i truly look forward to Winnipeg vs. Minnesota in the upcoming seasons.
Our teams could be on very similar paths.
Albeit, one of these teams sooner than the other.
Good for you guys.
First, I was drawn to the team because of their alternative logo. I thought it was creative, and I was going to art school at the time.
Second, their third jerseys (with alternative logo) are one of my favorite jerseys of all time.
Third, they're a Southern team whose seen some success - I'm a sucker for seeing non-traditional hockey markets succeed, and I like to think that hockey can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere.
I'm a big Eric Staal fan, as well as Jeff Skinner & Cam Ward.
I like the Huskies because I'm currently a student going to SCSU. I'll cheer for them over other collegiate teams, but I'm not a die-hard fan. I'll pretty much cheer for any Minnesota college hockey team over other national teams.
Been a fan of Philly for decades, but that started as a kid because they were the same uniform colors/patterns as my home town. I cooled on them a bit when they got Pronger because I hate him with a passion. But since he didn't play really last season, I found myself back to cheering for them.
I also used to be a fan of the Canadians, (started when Bobby Smith went to Montreal) but their whole treatment of the coach who couldn't speak French; coupled with the attitude/behavior of the majority of Habs fans who post on HFF just soured me on the whole organization, and they are no longer a team I care for.
Also was partial to the new Jets, but after PMB got decapitated there, I just can't like them now.
So I guess bottom line ..... if its not the WILD, then its either the Pronger-LESS Flyers or no one.
Penguins. I have a ton of extended family who live in Western PA. Mario was so fun to watch. I like Crosby too. The city of Pittsburgh will always be a Steel Curtain, Steelers city, but the Penguins are not that far behind.
