That's fine and dandy I'm not worried about his production I'm worried about his body giving out. I mean production wise if he was on the 3rd line putting up 50 pts great, but not for 5m a year.

Regarding his heart/soul/intangibles/whatever other crap, I dont care. This team has enough of that. They need skill, creativity, and goal scoring prowess.
Ding, ding, ding! Couldn't agree more.

Detroit? Not trading within division. Pitt? Are they offering neal? Carolina not giving up skinner..LA? Didn't hear that one.. philly already said they moved on, not giving up schenn or courtier. In the end it will either be SJ, NYR or CBJ

Are there any restrictions RE: scaling on 35+ year old contracts?

If not, why can't it look like:

1st year - 10 mil
2nd year - 4 mil
3rd year - 2 mil
4th year - 1 mil

Average cap hit: 4.25 mil

There's a lot of hate for Nash here, but obviously Sather is being patient and waiting for the right deal. If he can get it, then Nash is a home run. A little talent around him, and I think he'll quickly become a fan favorite.

I like Doan, but watch some team jump the gun and give him 4 years - NO THANKS

I don't really get the logic in the
Stepan+Dubinsky+Doan > Nash thing.
A decision to sign Doan could very well be independent of a Nash signing.

Heck, couldn't it also be:

Doan, Nash > Dubinsky & Stepan?

If we make a trade for Nash we will be having a new thread everyday, titled "Boyle needs to be on the 4th line" or " why can't our third line of Hagelin Boyle Pyatt score"

Hmmm. Sounds like last year

maybe a three way:

we send

M Staal to Canes

Stepan to Jackets

we get Skinner from Canes

Carolina adds to Columbus

Columbus sends Nash to Carolina.

Basically Staal + Stepan for Skinner. Do we do that?

I'm not even sure San Jose is on the list, much like Carolina and Ottawa weren't.

I agree with you as well, if it's 5 mill I'm not interested. At that point I have no problem going for mueller, kostitsyn, Huselius, or sykora for 3rd line depth

Or how about "last year in the playoffs it was Richards line or bust.... Now we have two number 1 lines."

I can't stomach another playoff when Brian Boyle is the closest thing we have to a secondary scoring option...

I'd offer Doan 10m over 3 years with a chance to win a cup, take it or leave it. He'd most likely leave it. Structure of 4.5-3-2.5.

Somebody better tell his mother that the fact he hasn't changed since high school, while redeeming to her is not going to be a good quality for long

In one of those tedious trade threads on the main board there was a writer, maybe Portzline who said Nash would accept a trade to Carolina.

Ahhhhh well it was Portzline himself who said Nash wouldn't so it's either another flip flop by Portzline or someone on the main boards has their facts messed up. Outside possibility that I'm mistaken, but I highly doubt that. Maybe I'll dig through his tweets.

More like two number 1s and two 4th lines, remember how most people here were complaining that after our 1st two lines we had no scoring?

Well even with Nash and two firsts, that is still the exact same issues. Even with Nash our third and fourth lines have to play.

I'd prefer having one number one line, a strong two second line, a top 6 talent 3rd line, and a 4th line.

If that fail completely next year then I'd look to trade for whatever superstar is not happy on their team next year.
