Injury concern is my worry with Gally, he plays way too reckless.

Galiardi is an interesting mix of playmaking, grit, and agitating play. I'm interested to see how he turns out.

I was a huge fan of Gali's in Colorado. I really liked his game when he was healthy. His problem is that he needs to be an aggressive forchecker and play a tenacious game to be his most effective. But his body can't take it. Sacco always wanted more from him, after the Avs playoff series against SJ, but he was always banged up and nursing an injury. I wish all the best to TJ and hope he can stay healthy and reach that potential, but I don't believe his body will allow him to do that.

I still have a soft spot for TJ, he was a fan's player (comical guy, good interviewer, etc) and he seemed to be a great team guy.

Sums up my thoughts almost exactly, just replace TJ with McGinn and vice versa.

I know its just a word, but when Galiardi broke the news of his own re-signing on Twitter, he added #Redemption at the end. That sounds like a guy who knows he can do a lot better and has something to prove. Now that he knows that the Sharks gave up a lot in the end for just him, I think its something that can be really motivating for some players.

Hopefully he has a good off-season and adds some bulk to him. The way the guy throws around his body, he needs some extra beef to prevent injury.

I liked McGinn a lot, but he was given many chances to succeed in our top 6 and failed each time. I'm happy to give TJ a try.

TJ has zero hands. Never scored 20 goals even in junior or the AHL McGinn doubled his goalscoring in juniors and the AHL

Galiardi is Shean Donovan.

That's one way to look at it. I also thought (hoped) that for about a minute, but the fact that he took the Sharks to arbitration after not doing a whole hell of a lot for them makes me think otherwise.

IMO he probably meant that the Sharks as a team are looking for some redemption from last year's early playoff exit.

I'm a McGinn apologist; I wasn't that impressed with Galiardi or Winnick. But I do feel that our crappy system was at least somewhat to blame for their struggles.

Galiardi is Shean Donovan.
Donovan played 951 games in the league and was an effective 3rd/4th liner.

If Galiardi has a career like Donovan, I'll be happy.

That's fine. But if anyone expects TJ to be a top 6 guy in the NHL, they're going to be very disappointed. McGinn has that potential

I'm hoping he makes the Sharks top 9 this year, any chance he could play with Pavelski at all btw?

He's still got a lot of potential, I have him in a keeper league and snagged him up as soon as I could while his value was pretty much at an all time low. I think he'll end up being a good/gritty 50-55 two way forward.

Depends on if we can land a top-6 winger without giving one up (Doan being the only remotely possible option). That would move Pavs down to center the third line with Wingels and someone else, possibly Galiardi. Otherwise, Pavs will be on Thornton's wing this year.

Grass is always greener.

McGinn was given every single chance to play in the top-6 and he did absolutely nothing. He was given chances with Joe Thornton for ****'s sake, and he failed to do anything. I don't think either has top-6 potential.

Yeah I was chastized for saying McGinn blew every opportunity the Sharks gave him up until last year. Grass is greener indeed.

McGinn scored more goals with the Sharks by age 23 than Pavelski. Guess they should have dealt him for a 4th line grinder, too.

Ah, yes, the Pavelski argument, I was waiting for you to pull that one out.

Pavelski was an undersized 7th rounder. But you know the difference? Pavelski came in and absolutely tore up the AHL, and then stepped into the NHL and showed he was legit. He took the very first chance that was given to him and ran with it and didn't look back. It's laughable that you'd even try and compare their situations.

Winnik, Moore, Handzus and Wingels all averaged more TOI than McGinn with the Sharks. Jamie was a 3rd and 4th liner.

I'm talking about in the past. How about when McGinn didn't score a single goal in 49 games a year ago, despite playing significant stretches with Thornton, Couture, Marleau, etc? I guess that doesn't count for anything though, because what have you done for me lately?

What I find funny is that you're giving up on Galiardi, yet chastising me for not giving McGinn his dues, when they're the same age.
