So was Jay Pandolfo. For as many scoring chances Grabs had last year, he should have netted 50.
thank you very much buddy!!!!
and grabner is not a great penalty killer.......he hangs out at the blue line and hopes that one of the guys that are actually trying to kill the penalty can hit him with an outlet pass, so he can use his "oh so blazing speed" for a break away........aaaaand hit the post/bar or shoot it wide.
I had a dream about this happening. Jay Bouwmeester isn't exactly the "imposing force" that the Islanders could really use in their top-4.
He did give the puck away more in those listed numbers above.
Are we trying to pretend that Jay Bouwmeester is a physical force out there by displaying the number of hits he has? Yes, J-Bo finishes some checks. No, he doesn't scare anybody racing down the wing.
J-Bo is a positionally sound defender who doesn't use his entire frame to its full advantage. He's a great skater who rounded out his game and had to give up some of the offense that came with rushing up the ice early in his career. He's sound enough on the PK and should be better on the PP except that he doesn't get shots to the net like the other two guys you mentioned.
Let's not make him into more than he is. He's a good player that is paid a lot of money that never quite became the really great player his salary demands.
It's fun to make trade proposals with the Isles because they've got cap space and prospects in abundance, but every reliable source -- and the empirical evidence -- suggests that they're done spending for the offseason.
Adding Bouwmeester's huge contract is absurdly unrealistic.
Let's see,Eklund in the past 1-2 seasons has had Nash coming to the Isles,Ryan coming to the Isles and Boumeester coming to the Isles.
His team stinking has a lot to do with Blowmeester sucking!!!
Always love it when the fans of a team that finished 27th overall start talking smack about the quality of players on team that finished nine places above them. Keep it real!

JBo is not a bad defenseman. In fact, he is very good. The problem is, he is paid to be an elite defenseman. He has the 10th highest salary and 5th highest cap hit for dmen this year. I don't think there is a single person on these boards that considers him a top-5, let alone top-10 dman.
That said, he would certainly help the Isles. He is durable and plays major minutes, something they can use with two mid-30s dmen who have had injuries the past couple of seasons.
So, how much would the Isles give for the right to overpay him? My guess is Nelson would be a non-starter. The Isles are pretty high on him. I also think the Isles want to give Grabner another chance seeing as how they didn't add any offense up front this offseason.
I would guess something closer to a 2nd and a good but not great prospect (Anders Lee?) Otherwise, I would think they would rather overpay a Michael Roszival type...give him big money ($5M?) and not give up any assets.
BLOWMEESTER, nuff said!!!! Oh, I'd take Streit, Visnovsky, Hamonic over Blow everytime!!! Soft as TISSUE!!!
Oh BTW, the Northwest division is awful, the Isles destroyed that division last season!!! The Atlantic in the other hand is the best division in the NHL by a mile!

If you think going 3-1-1 is destroying than it says about your opinion on players.
But 4 of the teams also happened to be in the top 10 for man games lost so it isn't as bad as it seems.
Well, a few teams up there have gotten an influx of young talent lately, especially the Oilers, so it will get more competitive. Calgary needs to trade Iginla for some top prospects & picks or they will suffer Rangeritis(mediocre team, this year was an aberration) the next 5 years.

Only 3 teams have had 90+ points since the lockout Calgary is one of them so how was this year an aberration.
I could see JBo taking A Macs spot when he get injured by Halloween, it's bound to happen. I just can't get on board with that salary. But I'm not paying it so it is what it is.
Hamonic is the best defenceman on the Isles, so you also forgot about him.
Meh. Still not sold on Hamonic. He hasn't logged the minutes Bouwmeester has and isn't at his level defensively. I'd take him over Bouw on the Rangers of course, but that's only because of the salary cap.
I'm not sure what you're trying to refer to here. The Rangers are the model franchise for rebuilding on the fly or rebuilding while staying competitive. This is one of the younger teams in the league.

I think a big reason why Streit struggled this season is because he missed the entire year. I think with a full training camp and preseason, he will revert back to his dominant form.
