The Sabres need a veteran bottom 6 center. Belanger is one, capable of playing the PK and winning faceoffs. The Oilers add another defenseman in Leopold, who immediately brings offense from the blue line and makes their PP better. Leopold is arguably a top 4 defenseman and definitely should be on the Oilers. We swap prospects that might be in need of a change of scenery and both teams have a bit of a surplus so add to a position that is weaker by giving up from a position of strength.

Again, the Sabres need bottom 6 centers and Reasoner would be a guy we could play on the 4th line. Again like Belanger, a good veteran PKer that would strengthen our center depth. Weber is a tough defenseman, can play both sides and is still young enough to improve. Has a bit of inconsistency but has been very good at times. The Isles could use another defensemen. I'd keep him, but we just don't have the room for him anymore.
I'd make these trades I'm pretty sure from a Buffalo view-point, although we'd be getting younger on defense. However, we have Brennan, McNabb, and Pysyk looking to be ready soon and I'm confident we could replace the losses.
If Regier trades Weber that would be a massive troll on Steve Ott, so doubt that happens. Curious to see what Oil fans think of the 1st proposal though. LW is probably Buffalo's weakest position in terms of prospects, so MPS would be a nice fit organizationally.
Weber fills a need for more grit on the backend. Reasoner has the ability but couldn't get going on the Island.
Exactly my thoughts. I still believe Reasoner is a good player for what he's supposed to do but he didn't have a good year in his first year on Long Island. I don't think he's a lost cause; I even think if he does stay on Long Island he'll have a better year. But I'd be willing to take him for Weber for sure.
Weber would be a loss considering we aren't very tough, but getting Scott and Ott now we have some more grit and Weber is a guy we will struggle to find playing time.
I'd probably do it as an Oiler fan. Belanger for Leopold helps us, no question. I doubt Leopold would play much on the PP though with Whitney, J.Schultz, Petry, Potter, and the possibility of a forward on the point i don't see him getting much more than a few shifts on the second unit from time to time. Adam for Paajarvi is tough, but Adam has the size we would need to get back and an ability to play in the middle. I think Paajarvi should be the more skilled player, but Adam will give him a run for his money. Good proposal.

I can't say much about him last year, but Reasoner was a great checker in Edmonton. Solid on the PK and faceoffs, and can play some tough minutes in his own zone. Also on a side note, i rarely care or notice personality but he just always came across as a really likable guy.

I'm glad I'm getting some positive replies from the fanbases involved.
Weber might not be moved due to his tie to Ott but this is more to see if the value is there and I think for a business aspect Darcy would hopefully overlook a friendship to make his team better and pull the trigger.
Make the oiler trade Foligno instead of Adam and Im in
Do that and the Sabres are out.
If Foligno gets moved, it will be as part of a package for a top-line forward...he fits too big a need for us and the plan Regier is enacting of making the Sabres a bigger, more physical team.

We have J Schultz and Petry for that. Also, Belly is our best face-off guy by a mile and a good pker. Again, solid proposal in terms of value, but I'd decline from an Oilers perspective.

Its funny, at first i really liked the trade, but then i thought the same thing defensively. I do like the size of Luke Adam but mps is a big boy too. It Doesnt make a lot of sense to trade top 6 for bottom 6, without adding a pick. Then i realized why i like the trade, i just dont like belanger. Hope he finds his game over the summer, cause he didnt bring it with him from pheonix last year.
I don't think that deal would help the Oilers at all. Adam would only make our team if Gagner is dealt, and Leopold is a band aid fix to a problem. We lose our best faceoff guy, a pk specialist, and the better prospect (in my opinion). I don't see this deal happening.
Weber lived with Ott's family for many years, they consider each other brothers, they train together every off season, and they're both really excited about being on the same team. It would be a massive troll on Regier's part to break up their honey moon so soon.
