Minnesota doesn't seem to need defense depth. They seem to have more than an ample supply. Stoner is good in his role, and the Habs could use a player like him. Whereas the team would have no need/room for Kassian. But anyway, it's too much potential for the Habs to give up for the solid role player in Stoner. Pass.
I thought Weber was supposed to be a very good, up-and-coming offensive defenseman for the Habs. Did something happen?
Mostly what happened is that Markov came back, Subban was better, and then they traded for Kaberle. Oh yeah, and Diaz showed up out of nowhere and was also at least as good as Weber. Then Weber became a bit redundant in the mix. He has had moments of goodness and lesser moments, pretty much as one might want to expect from a young non-stud defense prospect, so standard fan impatience is a part of the equation, but more than anything else his perceived redundancy puts him in almost every Habs fan's trade proposals on this board.
