As you can see, alot of people just want him gone.
I'm one of the few willing him to give him another year, before getting rid of him. People forget he came into last season after a summer where he had no training due to a broken back.
What would it take to get Raymond's rights to the Coyotes? His production has decreased the last 2 seasons but would you accept a 2013 3rd and the rights to Tikhonov for him? We couldn't give up any NHL forwards, only defensive prospects otherwise.
Probably won't work.
Might have to up that proposal a bit. And the fact that Tikhonov has played in the AHL and is now the KHL... Isn't that a bit alarming?
Just so you know there's going to be a lot of Raymond trashing here because as you probably know, every franchise needs at least one whipping boy. His value isn't as low as its perceived here.
HAHAHA! Forgot to put the ? in the title! My bad guys lol. Wow many of you really dont hold him to much value. I haven't seen a lot of his game but he appeared to me to be a good player. Fast and decent secondary scoring. What makes him such an amoeba?

He's frustrating to watch. He can't really generate any offense on his own, takes stupid shots etc. That being said I don't think we should trade him now.

Because he hasn't been able to produce offensively alongside Kesler, and has poor balance.
He won't be the center piece in a trade, but a part in a package for the Canucks to acquire better players or blue chip prospects. Good possibility he's sent packing to wherever Luongo's headed.
too soon after Raymond's broken back to be calling him an amoeba, no?
I'm not stating that he is, thats just the vibe I got from this section.

Trading Raymond now where his value is at an all time low is not good asset management.
Which is exactly the kind of trade GMDM would make. He would find a way to get something of value.

Possibly and a good observation. Phoenix would have no interest in Loungo so that certainly wouldn't work but if we have some one of interest to you other than OEL or Yandle then I'm open to fair suggestions.

As hockey fans, we're always interested in young prospects/players. We know OEL and Yandle are both out of the question unless we're sending one of our core players the other way, which we won't.
I have high interest in Rundblad and Gormley - but I didn't mention them earlier because I'm aware Raymond's value isn't quite enough to acquire any of those two.
Another guy is Boedker, who is probably out of reach too.
God damn, you had me excited with that title! That said, GMMG wouldn't make a trade where the player's value is low. (See the Hodgson trade) He traded Hodgson after he gave him a crap ton of sheltered minutes to inflate his value, then he traded him to Buffalo (at the time, Hodgson was apparently in the running for the Calder Trophy). I don't see Raymond being traded anytime soon unfortunately and GMMG has said that he wants to give Raymond a shot after a full offseason.
Post this thread around the trade deadline and then maybe we would have a more definite answer.
No, it isn't if we're not acquiring anything of value.
He can at the very least be a PKer for us and be a decent scoring threat against low QoC. More than I can say about whoever the hell we'll be icing in his place.
Lots of Raymond hate here....he's still a useful defensive player even if he's not scoring. Even if it's fair value I think he's still of much more use to the team than a third round pick or something.
And if he regains previous form, even better!

How do you know that? We haven't tried anything else. He hasn't excelled since his breakout year.
That money could be put to an upgrade, or the roster spot could be given to young blood.
We have PKers, he doesn't have the physical profile to be able to compete on the 3rd or 4th line. And he's obviously not the solution for the 2nd line.

I just dont understand this argument for him. He is in the top 6 being relied on for offense mainly because hes not a bottom 6 type player. Dale weise is also decent in his own zone, but hes a fringe player in our line up, av even said that a couple times this past year he needs raymond to produce offensively. Hes not really built for a bottom 6 role either. I actually agreed with av going with a checking line, and more physical 4th line this year.
As for his defensive skill, he is not a liability for sure (- kopitar) but hes not this amazing penalty kill specialist some make him out to be. His lack of physical game makes him less effective in our own zone in certain area's where he cant win puck battles.
Personally i just dont think hes a fit on our team, but a team like the jets or Columbus could take a chance on him.
