The Toronto Maple Leafs and his former club the Florida Panthers are reportedly interested in his services.

"I think playing in a hockey market is great," said Luongo. "Playing in one is a preference for sure. Playing in a place like Florida with anonymity - to go out somewhere and have a dinner with your family and relax and stuff is great. When you're on the ice, being able to play in a building that's rocking, sold out and the fans are passionate about their team - as a hockey player you always want to be in that type of market."

Luongo has 10 seasons remaining on a 12-year deal he signed with the Canucks in 2010. The deal carries a salary cap hit of $5.33 million per season but is front-end loaded. His annual salary – $6.71 million for the 2012-13 season – drops off dramatically after the 2017-18 season. He is slated to make just $3.382 million in 2018-19, $1.618 million in 2019-20 and an even $1 million in the final two years of the deal.
This is very similar to what Bure said when he wanted out of Vancover. The fans in Vancover are just brutal. B R U T A L.

They never apperciate anything. I said a few months ago that with the expection of a handfull of teams in the NHL there are 20+ clubs that would love to have Luongo's services.

I wonder if the thread count will eventually surpass the Phoenix Coyote ownership saga thread count on the BoH board?

Would probably want a pick coming back with Lupul, but definitely the best offer I've seen yet.

Seriously? You have been offered a lot of junk. I'd take that straight up trade and say it was good for both teams. I don't think anyone has to add. Toronto probably wouldn't want to do it... but in the end, it'd be a good hockey trade.

Where has Lu stated that he hates playing in Vancouver? He says he likes playing in big hockey markets, and that anonymity is also nice. He's keeping the door wide open to wherever he gets moved to. The situation with Schneider is the reason it is time to move on. I love him as a goalie, wish him nothing but success, but anyone can see it had to be him or Schneider, and Schneider is younger and costs less. I would be fine with the Canucks trading Schneider instead of Lu, but it looks like it probably won't work out that way.

Marginally better. I think we are hoping to move onto Harry Potter titles after this? Or Beatles albums?

Joffrey Lupul doesn't have a great resume...you'd have to add to Lupul, like a first round pick and a top prospect.

Lupul could very easily fall right back down like Kulemin did last year.

My only concern is: was Lupul a 1 year wonder? I suppose even if he regresses it would be his assist total as he's consistently produced 20ish goals. He would slot in on our 2nd line RW quite nicely.

I'd push for a pick, but if this were the final offer I'd probably settle.

Well, we have 22 threads in 2.5 months, they have 57 threads in 3.5 years. It would take us four months to get to 57 threads. It would be about a month into regular season. That's kind of a stretch. I'm happy if we get to Skyfall, which is all but assured.

you wont even get a first round pick and a top prospect without lupul...

pretty easy to speculate that lupul is not being traded, him and kessel are the leafs offense

He's traditionally a 50 point forward. That's not a slag on the guy, but after his season playing shotgun with Kessel, he's improved his standings in the eyes of Leafs fans. I remain pessimistic until I see him repeat.

With Lupul-JVR-Kessel as a top line, I don't see a huge risk or regression on the Leafs, but we want someone to light a fire under Kesler, not to be a passenger on his line.
