It should be Datsyuk, but it'll be Zetterberg.

While i think Datsyuk should get it based on what he's done for the team, it should be someone who can at least speak better english. Being the captain is all about communication.

Admittedly I'm not familiar with the players other then the obvious ones, but I think in general the next captain should be a player just entering his prime so he can be the focal point of the next wave of players. Grow with the future team much like Brown in LA.

It should be Zetterberg and it will be.

Some people think that the best player should be the captain, but Zetterberg is more deserving. While both are extremely hard workers, Zetterberg works harder more consistently and gives that effort forechecking, backchecking and on the puck. Datsyuk does it with more skill and flash while Zetterberg provides more of a blue collar element.

Also Z is 2 years younger and will probably finish out his contract on the Wings. It just makes much more sense.

Yzerman is to Fedorov what Zetterberg is to Datsyuk

Datsyuk to me is one of the top centers in the game. Yes his English is lacking, but when he's on the ice, he leads by example. Great gamesmanship, perennial Selke winner, and can take over a game on his own.

Zetterberg has similar attributes, he might be more vocal (I wouldn't know, I'm not in the locker room). However, I feel that ever since his Conn Smythe, he's not as good as people make him out to be. Still a great player, but to me, Datsyuk is everything I'd want in a player, even as my captain.

I think an argument could be made for both..

I'll go with Z, but Pav would be an excellent choice as well...

Chara said it himself that Dats is one of the most respected players in the league and one he has the most respect for. Toews, Sedin, Crosby etc. also praised him. I would want Dats as my captain anytime, but Z is no slouch either.

And again Pavel would be a good choice, but to me a captain leads by example and in the room. Pavel is perfectly suited for the 'A'.

Datsyuk would be nice, but I think Zetterberg will take the "C".
