Ducks fans wouldnt trade Ryan for this package with Staal there instead of Sutter, and now they are saying since Staal is gone there is no chance anyway? which is it?

if Staal++ was STILL not enough to get the once-in-a-lifetime wing talent, dont lie to us about it. stick to your guns.

besides, the Pens aren't trading Sutter (at LEAST until the TD). what a good way to hurt your reputation with players you trade for. they might as well keep their bags packed coming into Pittsburgh.

i think IF Ryan is traded, everyone will be a bit shocked by the return, because it will either be a few solid defensive prospects and a high pick or two or a MASSIVE overpayment.

This is awful.

Typical HF scraps for stars proposals.
Let them have a chance to prove themselves before you call them scraps.

You mean players leaving for nothing via UFA? We still have a few seasons before that is even a possibility.

well if Bennett, Despres, and Morrow all develop to what they're supposed to be...you wouldn't be getting all 3 for Ryan. Thats the point.

And if they bust like 90% of prospects?

Could my fellow Pens fans get off the Ryan train? Damn, we don't have the assets for him and in reality, WE DON'T NEED HIM.

MOVE ON!

I was referring to the post suggesting a move for Perry if negotiations were to go south with him. He only has this year left.

Kunitz + a bunch of spare parts doesn't get you a legit first line winger.

That’s strange. You responded to a previous question to a poster regarding the very same irrelevant topic. My question – not to you, mind you – was what do Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and Letang being untouchable have to do with moving Perry? This part shouldn’t be too hard to understand either. The point of the question being that it’s laughable to include Crosby or Malkin in a deal for Perry to begin with, let alone discussing pieces like Neal or Letang, when we’re discussing a trade for a soon to be UFA, who in the hypothetical situation discussed previously, had stalled talks with the Ducks to resign. Remember what Staal fetched? Remember what Hossa fetched? Nowhere in the ballpark of the names you’re listing.

Staal was enough for a 1 to 1 trade.

But he wanted to play with his brother.

I dont see what youre missing. The Penguins have nothing else of value to Anaheim. Like NJ/Nash they will do everything to keep Perry before trading him for a pile of futures. If we move Perry, it means we are in a full rebuild mode, which our GM has stated multiple times he will not do. So in my opinion, Murray will try to sign Perry until June 31st before he trades him.

Also, Staal got 1 roster player, and Hossa got 2 and Perry would get more than both. All Ive seen Penguins fans offer is prospects, and none of your roster players entice me to move Perry. Its not happening.

uh thats kind of the point of prospects...upside vs. risk.

We wouldn't trade two top 4 defenders and a top line winger for Ryan, because that is what they project to be. So you absorb the risk for the potential. I can't believe I need to explain that to you.

Why are you trying to be difficult? It's actually pretty simple...

When Staal was a Pen, there was a chance that Ryan could have been moved to Pittsburg with Staal and something else coming back IF he agreed to an extension first. The Ducks would not trade someone with as much value as Ryan for someone who could just leave in a year. Since it was very apparent no extension was going to be reached before he was dealt, the common rationality was that it probably wouldn't happen. However there was still a slight chance it could (Staal agreeing to an extension). Pittsburg fans were quite adamant about making proposals "with the assumption Staal agrees to an extension". I myself said I didn't want to bother would trade proposals for Staal because I didnt think he'd agree to an extension before hand, which I was correct. There's no question that the Ducks would have been willing to discuss trade proposals for Staal if an extension could be agreed, but since it was clear it wasn't going to happen, we generally didn't bother with discussing it. Now that Staal is gone, pittsburg definitely does not have the necessary parts to get a deal done for Ryan. Not when factoring in team needs, salary, and what our GM said he would want.

I don't want Ryan, seems like a primadonna, & the Pens don't need that in their locker room.

Anaheim's in kind of a weird situation. They could trade Ryan & lose Perry & Getzlaf all in one year.
