I'd rather not move Schenn and Schenn, Inc. to get OEL and a pick (too much risk in the pick as a mid-late 1st rounder). In the same token I don't think PHO will give up OEL for anything less than Couts or a Schenn. I would love to get OEL, but not at the cost of our own young guys and I don't think PHO is looking to move him. Let's give Schenns a chance to play a full season with us before we look to throw one or both of them for OEL.

Great proposal. I don't think anyone will disagree

EOL, Hanzal and a 1st gets you the Schenns if I am Paul Holmgren. That's probably a deal with out the first rounder in reality.

People want Couturier so badly because they see what kind of talent he has. OEL for Couturier is a very even proposal. Still, I don't see the Flyers trading him at this time.

I'd do Couturier for OEL straight up in a minute. One of Schenn/Couturier is expendable. And we have Luke so B Schenn isnt going. Man I would kill for a young dman like OEL.

I don't see how OEL is worth Couturier and a 1st. I see the two as on even ground.

I would probably do Coots for OEL but at this point I would probably wait to see how Luke Schenn turns out before moving a piece like Coots. Luke may be a #2 if he gets on track then try to trade/sign a Weber or Enstrom.

#1 dmen have more value then #2 centers. I like Coots but shut down dmen are harder to come by.

I'm not going to compare Couturier and OEL because like how you admitted you haven't seen OEL nearly as much, I haven't seen a ton of Couturier either, but I will say on many nights during the playoffs he logged the most minutes among defensemen on our team. I think he's proven himself quite a bit considering how young he is.
It's definitely not a knock on OEL that his team played tier 2, but my point was that he didn't even play against the best talent in Sweden. D typically take longer to develop too, and OEL will prob be a good one.

Couts' numbers don't do him justice to how quickly he adapted to the NHL as a 18 year old. If he had been drafted by and played for a worse NHL team, he'd of seen 20 minutes a night rather than the 14 min in Philly and in a more offensive capacity.

Since when was he being labled as a 2. Couturier went in the top 10 if i'm not mistaken, with the highest PPG out of any players in his draft year. Yet, because he has unreal defensive skills, he is only a 2. Lol, people are really picky with prospects.

Tell me, what has OEL done to prove that he is a 1?

Homer already said no to trading Couts.

Question: If you trade for OEL today, do we have a better chance of signing Doan tomorrow? Hmmmm

I think there are probably 500 players in the NHL that have played more games as Doan's teammate over the past decade and a half than Ekman-Larsson.

Now that I think about it, were Briere and Doan line-mates in Phoenix around 2000-2002?

Dunno, but maybe being one of the most important players to the team who made into WCF, at the age of 20, kinda makes you one.
And as a fan of both teams and someone, who absolutely loves Couturier, yeah i'm pretty sure that in trade Couturier for OEL, Flyers would be adding. But it doesn't really matter. There is simply no way, that these two guys would be traded in the near future.

One of these guys was our best shutdown center and played significant PK minutes while still oozing plenty of offensive potential, the other hits pretty well and has his big brother in organization. No, honestly, i don't care if his brother or mother plays for Flyers, if i should choose between Schenn or Couturier, Brayden would be always the odd man out. Sure, i think he will be great player in the future, but for me, Sean offers much more for this team than him.

As strange as it might sounds for guy who didn't even reach 40 points in his career, Hanzal is probably the most important forward for Coyotes. He is someone, who is able to shut down guys like Thornton, Kopitar or Getzlaf on nightly basis and Phoenix is always having extremely hard time when he is out injured. Add one of most talented young defenders in the game and 1st round pick and package of Schenn brothers gets you maybe their autographs, but certainly not players themselves. And honestly, Flyers don't exactly need player like Hanzal, when they have guy, who can be as good defensively while being much better 2-way player in Couturier.

I believe they were. I think Briere had some short call ups, then he spent 3 years in Phoenix.
