Thread about where Carter Ashton ranks when we picked him up at the deadline.
Pretty funny considering how low he is now.
On HF Boards, we don't worry about things here like upside, skillset, lillihood of hitting potential ... it's all about who is 'in fashion', and 'what have you done for me lately', lol
I honestly don't get why Scrivens ranks so high. I like the guy, he's solid, but his upside is that we're lucky if he becomes a solid NHL backup. I know I'll get shot for saying it - but it's true.
Percy has the potential to be a solid #3 guy with a really high hockey IQ, great puck movement, and a high liklihood of hitting that potential - but he didn't get hype, so he falls on our list
Ashton has the upside of a 2nd line power forward, but the greater liklihood of being a really good 3rd line guy with some offensive upside. He has a way higher ceiling, and thus more value than a guy like D'Amigo, but D'Amigo had a great playoff run, so he'll be ranked higher.
My prediction: Next year Colborne will kill it once recovered from his hand injury, Ashton will have a great year with the Marlies, and Percy makes the WJC squad, kills in in the O, then steps in and makes a name for himself with the Marlies for the Playoffs. All three will be in the top 5 prospects on this list at the end of next season. Book it.
