Awesome. 6 mil to be on Handzus's wing. I don't think so. He's in the top 6. Move Pavs to center third line and buy out that waste of a player in Zues.

If family is #1 concern he'll to the Ducks which has to spend a lot of money to get to the cap floor and is closer to Phoenix.

If he wasn't over 35 (and hence the 35+ contract rule applies), I'd do it. Maybe not 10, but a long-term deal with diminishing salary, sure.

I would not be okay with a penny more than $3.5m. He is barely a top six player.

I'd give him 3 years at $4 million per year at the absolute most. Preferably 2 years at $3.5 million each. I think some other team will offer him 5 years at $5 million per year and he'll take that.

The guy hasn't won a Cup yet and wants to go to a contender though.

So then if THAT'S his #1 concern, he should go to the Kings.

I'd go up to $5 mil/yr for Doan as long as the term isn't too crazy. Doan @ $5 > Nash @ $7.8, and we don't have to give up Pavs to get him.

I like Doan, but I think he's overrated. That being said, this would be a classic DW move.

Doan's at 4.5 right now, and I wouldn't have a problem keeping that amount, maybe going to 5. 6 is definitely too much.

This is where DW could really come in handy. Family is super important to Doan, and DW is a player's GM. I can see Wilson making some tweaks with his contract in non-monetary ways to help with that- maybe assuring him time off during the season between games to see family or something like that. Even if we don't offer higher dollar, I can see Wilson doing a good job of selling San Jose as a great total package- perennial contender, close to family, exciting changes in coaching staff, great centers to pair with, amazing place for family to come visit, etc.

And as for leaving AZ, I doubt his family will leave. Beyond the photography business, Shane and his wife own a horse ranch. I can't see them dropping that. His kids are also school age, with his oldest highschool-ish, so I don't see them wanting to move, especially for just a few years. How important is it to be close to them during the season? We'll just have to see.

It say's he's looking for 6M, that doesn't mean he'll get it. Really, if he wants a chance to win the cup, I don't think it would be wise for him to ask for more than 5M.

I'd be fine with 5M for 3 but that's about it.

Bah. His agent has said that Doan is interested in every team. He's simply driving up the asking price.

I wouldn't mind something like $4M at 3 years, but definitely not $6M at 5 years; I doubt any team would take that.

If we were able to get Semin and Doan, it would help this team so much. Semin brings the elite speed and hands, and dynamism we need, while Doan brings the strength, heart, soul, and the whole "Don't **** with us" that we need more of. This team really is a contender if we can get one of these guys; I'd hope to trade Murray though if possible, and acquire a tough defenceman that's less of a pylon, and that can be responsible for Demers' misplays; I don't want to see Braun in the NHL, I don't think he's good enough.

6M/season is too much for a guy thats over the hill, no thanks.

anything over 3.5 is an overpayment.

Doan is one of those players I just hate and don't want to see in teal. I don't want him for anything more than 3.75 mil. I would prefer to get Semin for a bit more.

The fact you think semin will accept 5 mil shows that you dont think he is that good. The bare min that semin accepts is 6 mil and that is only if he doesnt go to the khl

The Kings cannot offer term and do not have the cap space considering when the Quick extension kicks in + Brown getting an extension.

Not only that, but when was the last time the cup was won back to back?

not sure if want... might be too old for the length of contract he wants

1 year would be ideal... 2 years would be iffy to me

i know this is a joke, but since he's over 35(i think he is) the cap hit would remain for all 10 years.

his value is 5m per, would an extra mil be that much of a difference? go
6, 5, 5, 4 on the contract.

Yes because the Sharks should pay the man and not the myth. Doan made 4.5 last year. What has he done to increase his value?

Also paying Doan for four years is crazy
