None at the contracts they got. But very close between Carle and Wideman, Garrison wont score 16 goals as a Flame.

Jokinen VS Hudler VS Jagr

Garrison, honestly, but I pretty much expect his offense to dry up without Campbell regardless of where he goes. I'm fine with Wideman, even if the contract is a bit gaudy.

If I say Garrison or Carle, what does that bring me? Disappointment...

Obviously I now prefer Wideman.

Really hard to say, because for one they all played in the East. Secondly they're all unknown commodities in different ways.

Can Garrison keep up that level of production without Campbell. Was his season a one-hit wonder.

Were Carle's regular gaffes a product of Philly's playing style that forces their D to make quick no-look transition passes, or does he just play like that period.

Wideman leads his team in hits and blocked shots and was near the top of the league in points for a defenseman yet ended the playoffs on the 3rd pairing. What is he going to be in Calgary.

If we're taking them based on 2011-2012 play I would choose Garrison at that salary.

I initially wanted Carle over Wideman. Did Wideman fill a need? Yes. Am I disappointed? No.

I wanted Garrison as well, but for $4 million or less. One good season does not make a player worth that kind of contract IMO.

None of the above? Wideman is too one dimensional. Garrison has no proven track record and has massive bust potential. Carle is as mediocre a player as they come. Does nothing great and nothing horribly. At least Wideman has the offensive side of the puck working for him. Given my druthers I would have signed none of them and waited for future UFA classes to spend money on.

Garrison.

Before he put up 16 goals last season, he was being recognized for becoming a top defensive D in the league. Even if his offense were to dry up, he'll remain a very good defensive player (which is important for playing defense, guys).

Wideman and Carle can both be nightmares defensively at times, but overall are 'OK' at defense.

Garrison's overall game is more effective and valuable, and he's cheaper to boot (although obviously took a hometown discount).

Almost inclined to say Jagr due to the 1-year term. Same cost as Jokinen, but Olli's play could drop off in the 2nd year and having him in your line-up means one of your top 2 Cs isn't very good at faceoffs. So you get Jagr for a year and then have the $4.5m freed up next year when you know what the cap would be at.

For our team, I do probably prefer Hudler, but it really depends on how he adjusts to a new team as we've only seen him on one NHL team so far. But his previous adjustment to new teams in the AHL and KHL suggest it could work out great.

Carle. Reliable three four guy. Garrison, nope, you're not getting those numbers anywhere except Nashville, Florida, stl, los Angeles... Wideman if he puts up 20+ pp points I don't really care too too much about his d.

Given our needs on the backend, I can see why we locked up Wideman. But we also need a younger Sarich type of dman, so hopefully he can stay effective as a bottom pairing guy. At the end of Sarich's next contract, it would be great if Ramage will be ready to step in and fill that role.

Wideman because he is the only right handed shot and best compliment to Bouwmeester in my opinion. Garrison is so overrated, he had a great season but the last time we picked a D man from Florida he sure didn't produce as well in our division. Carle is just a poor mans Bouwmeester in my opinion, doesn't fill any void on our team at all.

This is huge, the fact that Wideman is right handed adds a something that we seriously lack. Gio is better than Carle and makes less and we need offense from our defense more than just a good defenseman like Garrison I don't believe he will put up 30+ points a year.

I could have sworn they both kicked the puck and didn't need hockey sticks.
