I agree with you 100% it's a no-brainer to sign Semin over Nash

Considering he is Russian he could be getting courted by KHL and NHL teams.

Semin will get eaten alive here by Torts and co.

No way he is even an option. He's also still around on July 7th and I don't envision a deal being made soon as well. There's a reason for that.

KHL-bound, IMO. No way any team is throwing the years at him either. If some NHL team does sign him, it's short-term.

Indeed if a deal is done soon it will be with a KHL team. See ya.

DUO...

trio...

Kreider-Stepan-???Doan/A.Stewart

Semin-Anisimov-Artukhin (matching 1 yr deals for Semin+Artie)

Hagelin-richards-Miller/Gaborik

Pyatt-Boyle-Callahan

Notice something...there is NO #1 line for teams to shut down each is a pain to play against

trade for Yandle if you fear the Flyers getting him but keep an eye out for overpricing MDZ
Asham-Newbury-Bickell

Flip Dubinsky+Stralman+pic+prospect for E.Johnson

McDonagh----Girardi

Staal--Johnson

Erixon-Kubina

That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. So we're running with 5 forward lines +Rupp? Johnson isn't even close to an option, and that deal only would work in NHL 12. And just because Anisimov is Russian doesn't mean he should be on a line of 2 other Russians.

That aside, I hate the idea of trading for Nash, Ryan less so depending on the necessary package. I'd sign Semin for 1/2 years and go from there.

The only way I'd consider signing Semin would be if I were convinced he would buy in to Torts' system. Also, I'd have to be convinced his time of taking games off has ceased.

He is an extreme talent and if he could perform the tasks noted above, I would rather have Semin and keep my prospects.

I think torts adjusts his system to best fit his players.

THAT is the sign of a good head coach.

Nash, Ryan, Semin all have one thing in common, they are all somewhat deficient defensively, but are all solid offensively.

Make best use of your assets. The best Head Coaches can and do, do that.

Why is last years top line now our 3rd line when no upgrades have been brought in?

If he signs a one year deal somewhere, Slats missed the boat.

Give him $7.5 for one year, I don't care. Beats trading roster players for Nash and his albatross contract.

I don't think Semin would have accepted a one year deal. He is looking for a longer deal. And he will get it somewhere.

For the 100th time, a player 27 years old is not taking a 1 year deal when he knows some team will give him a 4-6 year deal for 5.5 or more.

Hes going to take a one year deal, even at 7.5m to prove himself?? So he will turn away the guaranteed 20-30m contract for a one year deal worth a little extra?

And now what if he blows out his knee or has a career changing injury next year. There goes all that guaranteed money on that long term contract he could have had.

No player, no agent, would ever accept a one year deal unless your a player passed your prime and your will to take anything.

Find me some under 30 year old 1st, 2nd line players who have taken a 1 year deal. Your not finding any. And Semin isnt either.

So lets quit dreaming hea comjng to NY to sign a 1 yr deal to prove himself.

Which was highly unusual and the product of Hossa being infatuated with the idea of getting a cup- per reports. Would you take a one year deal right before a potential lockout?

Fair point.

But any and all reports have been that Alex and CO want a long term lucrative deal. My personal belief is that 5 years 30 mil is what he wants, and if he can't egt that here he will most certainly get it in the KHL.

Frolov wanted 4 years 20, took a flyer trying to prove himself with us for one year then took his paycheck in the KHL. We can only get lucky trials so often.

No problem understanding the preference to signing a ufa over trading away assets but there is no way in hell I tie up big bucks for 5 years on a player with a spotty record for bringing it every nite.
Two(2) years? No issue.

Btw, Nash is 10x the player Semin is!
