We paid 5 mil for Rob Blake and it's not like they don't have cap space to burn anyway especially if they buyout, bury, or trade Michal Handzus. I wouldn't be too worried about it anyway. DW and free agents don't mix unless they have no options or are role players.
If we can get him for 2-3 years at 5 mil a year id take it and run. He is just one of those players that you hate when their against but love when they play for you. His determination, grit, and will to win one before he retires would be a much welcome addition to this team. Not to mention a top 9 of
$5M would be the most I'd give Doan. But I would actually prefer Semin for that money.
DW said he wanted to add a couple of wingers, this would only be one. I hope he trades Clowe/Murray for a couple of tweeners and drop Pavelski ro Couture to third line.

Semin is seeking more than what he made last year i'm sure.
i dont mind the idea of nash in teal... but i would much rather doan for "free" rather than losing pavelski/clowe/whoever for nash. a few ppl have said it already, and i made a thread a long time ago that got deleted (still not sure why), but adding doan and then mueller would be solid if DW could work it. i would call robinson, burish, doan, mueller a VERY successful offseason. just my opinion though.
i think doan could help bring out angry joe more often too. and when angry joe comes out, hes damn tough to stop.

Burish is a winger. So I guess that would be a "couple."
I wouldn't mind something like $4M at 3 years, but definitely not $6M at 5 years; I doubt any team would take that.
If we were able to get Semin and Doan, it would help this team so much. Semin brings the elite speed and hands, and dynamism we need, while Doan brings the strength, heart, soul, and the whole "Don't **** with us" that we need more of. This team really is a contender if we can get one of these guys; I'd hope to trade Murray though if possible, and acquire a tough defenceman that's less of a pylon, and that can be responsible for Demers' misplays; I don't want to see Braun in the NHL, I don't think he's good enough.
I think his new contract shows how much the organization thinks of him and his potential.
4 years, $3M per. Even when he stops being a goalscorer, he'd still be an effective third-liner with character. Considering what Winnik wants to be paid, $3M is a solid deal for a declining top-6 player. He gets his term, and we get a cap-friendly deal and a solid third liner.
Wingels-XXX-Doan would be a killer third line. Trade Murray+picks to get a good #3C.
DW will sell Doan on the plans he is making for the team (making one other big move/signing) and the need for the cap space to have a legitimate shot at the cup. Sell the area and weather, the fact that he can visit Phoenix several times each year playing with the Sharks (as PF mentioned), and the new coach. Doan and Jumbo get a bromance going.

The Sharks still need two quality third liners and one extra part if you trade Handzues
DA, get him here. He tasted the playoffs and has enjoyed extra rounds. He is the kind of player that if given the chance to get to the finals, will go through a wall. So many posters here talk endlessly about this kind of player. Who cares how much. Get him here.

Boom.
That contract is at least 4.2 too much in total value.

Well, I of course would be worried about that much money for 3 years for a player that old, but there will be teams out there throwing money at him. It just depends on how many 'intangibles' SJ has in it's favor in negotiations. I don't see him going to the East coast at all.. but maybe the Stars? Perhaps.
I would feel that 3.8 for 3 years would be reasonable and fair to both sides. We'll see.
