I once tried to play CBC's hockey pool but I found it to be too much work. You had to look at the schedule every week and examine who had played the most games, examine their rosters and stats, and it simply became too much work. Especially when you have as little free time as I do.
I do most of my posting from my phone during waiting periods of my life (taking a ****, waiting in line for coffee, etc), so if you can do this fantasy thing from a phone and it's not too much work, then I'd be down to try it.
Well, it does take some work, but Yahoo does have a phone app, which is great to use. Usually, it takes me about 10 minutes of my time a day.
So, we will use Yahoo Fantasy Hockey, and it will be a keeper league. Now, the 2012 season hasn't started yet, so we will have to wait until mid-late August for the league to be set up. Meanwhile, we can talk about what categories we will use, rules, ect..
@drewskiv We could do that, but then it might be too complicated. Besides, if someone is inactive, we can just replace them since it's a keeper league. When the league starts, we can just use this thread to talk about trades, news, transactions, ect.

If you're talking about the draft, then no, this is just a list of members that have said yes to join. I just went in order because it was easier to track the people who said they would join.
I'd like to see Stewie and markgio in here since I frequently butt heads with them already
Also this should be right up Skobel's alley, someone should pm him.
Howmany roster spots you guys want? How do prospects usually work?
If I'm correct, you will have a prospects "farm team", (usually about 5-7), and you can call them up to your main roster if they are doing well. (I think they stay in FA pool, but they cannot be touched by other teams)

I think thats the typical one I see these days. The question of course if you want a full team line (4 lines + 6 D) or something smaller like 2 and 4. Personally I'm a big fan of large rosters, it simulates a real team to have depth vs just star players.

I like the stats you chose, but I would add in total points. As for large rosters, I also like large rosters, so i would be fine with 15 players+.
As for the prospects, here is my theory:
We would have a prospect entry draft for prospects/rookies. We would use the Flames section to host the draft. It would be 1-3 rounds. The rest of the rookies that went unclaimed, will go into the Yahoo FA pool. We would then have 3-5 bench spots for rookies on the roster. (You would keep 2 for the next season)

The bigger the roster the better especially with alot of stats as it can lead to alot of trades which is always exciting.

Ok, big roster it is!
Any other thoughts on how we should handle prospects? I'd like other ideas other than just mine.
Or what we could do is not to have a rookie draft, but rather just draft them in the fantasy draft. Doesn't matter how many rookies you have on your squad, but you can only keep so many for the next season. (this would help against tanking)

And here I thought it was all in good fun, now you want to destroy me in fantasy hockey? Oh the humanity!
You make me cry during my sleep
This is looking promising already though,
I want to put forth, since sometimes conducting a live draft can get quite tricky with 20 teams, maybe since we have time now we can do a board draft and then have them assigned during the season? Nothing worse than missing out on a live draft
