No idea. I just looked up all my trade rumor sites and there has been nothing mentioned with Ottawa & Colorado.

David Jones? He was just signed though. Stastny? Very unlikely. McLeod? Maybe to replace some toughness and grit we lost in Konopka/Winchester.

Someone please elaborate.

They aren't directly related. Players increase their value through performance. It's not some kind of natural progression like you seem to think.

Seems you guys have less of an idea than me. Guess it's nothing. Looking at Colorado's roster, I don't know what we would be trading for as a "plan B" to a failed attempt at acquiring Bobby Ryan.

Duchene? Lol, nevermind but he was mentioned to be in trading block end of this year.

In typical Sens board fashion, I offer Butler and a 7th for Duchene.

Overpayment. Lessard and a conditional 7th.

So your saying Chris Kelly at 2.1M isn't worth more today from the performance he had before that signing? Same with Neil and Fisher? (Although Fisher was more for being the only player besides Alfie to show up against Anaheim in the finals)

Players cap hits and salaries definitely rise each year not just based on performance, but based on a teams salary caps. Once the cap rises so does each players value. Not sure how you can argue that.

Totally agreed about his being hard to obtain (though I don't think it would cost as much as you describe, I get the point you're making), which is why I added the "Aliens" guy, rather than any image that would denote oh, you know... hope that a deal like that could ever happen.

I'd assume Fisher's caphit will remain around 4.5 considering they know he wants to stay there with his family.

I don't see any over-valuing, at least not to Colorado. Duchene is their next glory boy. Face of the franchise. Kid has unbelievable potential, IMO. 2 higher end prospects, a roster forward and a 1st sounds about right to me.

I'll take McLeod on this team in a second. Durable player playing in 75, 71, 74 games the last 3 seasons. Last year he had 164 PIM and 123 hits, the year before 189 PIM and 147 hits.

We'd have our new Konopka minus the faceoff strength.

What will it take Av's?

When Duchene could one day become the captain, face of the franchise and possibly their next Joe Sakic, a kid who went second overall and is just 21 and could play all situatons.....

Na there is definitely no overvaluing there. Usually GM's don't even inquire or kick tires on these types of players because they know the price would be through the roof.

I seriously hope this is a joke. Don't even put his name in the same thread as Joe Sakic's, let alone the same sentence.

I have no idea what you're saying in the bolded.

As for the rest, the argument is that players should be given raises based on performance not just as a result of the cap going up. The fact that GMs hand out ridiculous contracts is what lead to the first lockout. Don't confuse overpaying with merit-based raises.

Didn't compare him to Joe Sakic, I said he could have the equivalent star power and value to the Av's one day and that is 1000% true. Would never say or imply that Duchene will have a HOF career but I could definitely see him being in Colorado for the next decade, becoming the captain and depending on how their core develops and what moves are made, lead them their first cup since the Sakic days.

Next time try to pay more attention.....

Anyone else notice Parise and Suter were both wearing the A at the press conference today? ********* Dany gets stripped of the A, will play second line and being in Parise, Suter and even Koivu's shadow. Sweet sweet justice.

So you're saying Duchene going second overall is wrong?

And I already explained the other comment. Not saying Duchene will be like Sakic or have the same career as him, just that Duchene is captain material, could play a good portion of his career in Colorado and possibly lead them to a cup ala Sakic.

So what exactly is wrong here?

You didn't say any of that. You said he could possibly be their next Joe Sakic. That's a straight comparison not some ****ing metaphorical read-between-the-lines ********.

THANK YOU!!! And yes. Duchene went third overall, not second.
