so it came out today that gretzky was also part of the raptors' recruiting effort to get steve nash. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/81...akers-happened

guess that means the great one is batting .500 this summer. and good on steve nash; good BC boy keeps it real and gives the finger to toronto. not getting cozy with an enemy. looking at you, schultzy.

He sure did. The last name pronounciation thingy is ridiculous.

The thing that bothered me most is the Wild owner complaining about inflated salaries, saying the league has to fix that, and then stating he had to spend 200$ on two players.

I have absolutely no hard feelings for NHL owners. I'm pro player in the CBA talks, the stupid owners will always find a way to screw up their sweet heart deal.

Pareezy mentioning how him and Suter had been talking for the past two years (until they hit free agency) and wanting to make sure they'd play together must be upsetting to New Jersey fans; it's no wonder he took a one year deal in NJ. The whole thing just looked smug to me.

I'd be PO'd if Kesler did something like that, to be honest.

At least he didn't mail it in like Chris Bosh (regular season) and LeBron James (playoffs) before bolting for Miami.

I hate the fact they were both given 'A''s on their jerseys. There is 16 other players on that team.

Yup; have yet to skate even one practice with the team, or bond with the players, much less lead them.

Edit: Don't know how anyone can cheer for these conniving ingrates.

The returning players need to know their places. These are two premier players that both have strong leadership abilities and so many intangibles. They deserve the A's and I'm sure the other players know it.

Apparently "Parise" is an Italian surname, so...there's that.

I'm annoyed at Leopold's stupid hypocrite face right now too, but we probably shouldn't begrudge a player telling us how his family name is pronounced.

Lol I love how everyone is turning on Parise now that he signed somewhere else. Guess what guys, he's a free agent he's allowed to do what he wants. I'm glad weve got some new blood in our division maybe we won't rollerskate into the playoffs this year.

There's a rumor starting around on trade and rumor section that Semin will sign with the Penguins for one year. Would be a nice consolation prize for missing out on Parise.

*THAT* should be a *MORE* startling GM move.

Absolutely nothing to do with where he signed. It's how we went about it.

I don't even find it that bad, really. He listened to the offers, took a couple of days to mull them over and then picked.

I'm referring to him and Suter planning on playing together long before he hit free agency; I guess Minnesota was the only team Suter could get on board with. I think he made up his mind long before and gave false hope to NJ (giving them a lot of lip service). He spurned his team for a fat paycheck and his best bud. They got jack squat for him in return... plus him talking about slowly recruiting other players from Minnesota around the league with that **** grin on his face made him look like a smug ********. Like a televised FU to NJ.

Edit: Very excited to play against Minnesota this year, however.

1) Parise went home, and Suter brought his wife home, when the two players chose Minny.

2) New Jersey could have dealt Parise at the deadline, instead of taking the risk that they took. Same applies to the Preds and Suter. New Jersey got to the Finals, Parise played out his contract, owes the Devils nothing. The Preds also took a risk, and were rewarded with a fairly decent playoff as well.

3) Only an idiot wouldn't start planning for an upcoming free agency status a year, or two before hand. We are talking about a huge life decision for any player. If they wanted to play on a team with each other, then I really dont see what the problem is, if they began disgussing the possibilty a couple of years back?

4) Way too many players around the league have been conditioned to be monotone, and show zero emotion, or give any hint of actual truth when doing an interview, and, or press conference. IMO It was a breath of fresh air seeing these two guys "be real" in the presser yesterday.

I hate the Wild just as much as many Canucks fans do, but to sit there and bash the character of a classy player, simply because he signed with one of our rivals is fairly childish if you ask me. It's no different than the amount of people who have made Justin Schultz out to be a complete piece of garbage (only a day after calling him great), simply because he signed in Edmonton.
