I would rather Huet than Emery given the same salary as backup. I always felt for the guy and he could play.

He was .895 on a stacked Hawks team. What would be the point?

That was then. To put it mildly, goalies are unpredictable. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Some things in life are predictable. Eventual death. Taxes. Republicans hating Obama. HF50 posts being nearly incomprehensible.

And Huet sucking.

Hurt didn't always suck and it doesn't really matter but I would find it easier to cheer for Huet in a backup role and he could serve as an object lesson for Crawford. Scared Straight!

Yeah, because having a guy behind Crawford who's twice as fragile mentally is exactly what the Hawks need.

That being said, I'm glad he's making a comeback. I bet (and hope) he signs in Vancouver.

Yeah, no. Emery>Huet at this point. He is 2 years removed from an awful season with a great team and is now 37 years old. He sucks and it is insane to think otherwise. Goalies are unpredictable but Emery has a better chance of becoming a good goalie again than Huet.

That said, I hope he does get a chance somewhere. The way he handled his demotion during the Cup year was admirable and I always got the impression that he was about the team and not himself. He also took his getting sent down/sent overseas and never complained or said anything bad about the organization. He even showed up to the White House with the team to celebrate withe Obama when he certainly didn't have to... other former teammates didn't(although some had team stuff going on). I wish him the best and hope he does have another couple good seasons but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Good luck Cristobal. Be prepared to take a massive pay cut.

Huet sucks and was ECHL caliber during cup year

He is 2 years older and been playing inferior competition since his NHL career ended

Only way he gets a look from NHL teams is to take Martin Gerber route and sign 2 way deal or tryout

I was at the game in MN where he **** the bed in the 3rd period with a handful of Huet Softies costing us the game. I don't know how much he played afer that but it wasn't much.

It's that game in Dallas that sticks out to me.

Yeah Huet can teach Crawford to have two good seasons, get paid $5 mill/year and suck as much as you want after that.

Wish him absolutely nothing but the best of luck. Hope he finds a gig somewhere in the league this year.
