Saw this on the main boards figured I would post it here

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=118960

I put little to no faith in CP but according to that thread Mueller is close to signing with the flames. If true I would be very excited.

So that's what CP looks like. It's looks like the main boards on HF, where threads are created that aren't even Flames related.

Anyways, back on topic. If Mueller were to sign, I'd be happy. Every little bit helps I suppose.

Damn, this got me excited. Even if it's just a rumour. I would be so pumped if he signed here. Can't deny my man crush on this guy, though he's been a bandaid on skates lately.

If Mueller signed, I'm more interested in what Feaster does for the rest of the summer.

I believe we wouldn't see anything until after training camp when one or two of Mueller/Stajan/Stempinak don't make the team and one of Babchuck/Smith don't make the team.

If he was signed where would he play?

Tanguay - Stajan - Iginla
Cammy - Cervenka - Hudler
Sven - Backlund - Mueller
?

Mueller was actually drafted as a center, PHX has been using him as a winger though so you could make an argument of putting him in the pivot role again.

I'd welcome the signing, but if its from CP its most likely ******** posted to generate some traffic. If Mueller did sign I would think that would mean a substantial move was on the horizon. Too many bodies at almost every position. Something major would have to give.

He has never been good at the faceoffs but it could be worth a try

Tanguay - Mueller - Iginla
Cammy - Cervenka - Hudler
Sven - Backlund - Glencross
?

I'd imagine:
Tanguay - Cammalleri - Iginla
Glencross - Cervenka - Hudler
Baertschi - Backlund - Mueller
Comeau - Stajan - Stempniak
Jackman, Jones

Or something of that variety. I could see them trying to move Stajan for anything they could get their hands on.

Too many bodies on wing though...

Well as far as faceoffs go, he probably hasen't taken many since 06, but if you put him on the wing, its hard to fit other players in unless u kick someone out of top 9.

Mueller isn't fast but he has huge reach and really good vision, its why I would put him in the center really. But i know others have said he is a bad center so throw him on the wing, but then we kick a winger out of the top nine. For the record, Hudler does not play C.

He has only taken 397 in the nhl I just don't think he will be ready to take 1000+ faceoffs.

We could play

Tanguay - Cammy - Iginla
Glencross - Cervenka - Hudler
Sven - Backlund - Mueller (Could be a good linemate for Sven)

Or
Tanguay-Cammy-Iggy
Glenncross-Stajan-Hudler
Baertschi-Cervenka-Mueller
Comeau-Backlund-Stempniak
I'd be good with that line up

It would start by not having a plug like stajan on the first line. That's first.
This guy was drafted a center, was suppose to be a top tier NHL talent yet hasn't fully panned our health wise.

Top line center? Third line rw? There's space for him.

With the money Hudler is making I think we have to choice but to park that contract on the second line to at least try it, don't really want 4 million a year on the third line,

Don't care about the money I believe Hudler was brought in to play with Cervenka because of their time playing together in international tournaments. I also think putting Mueller with a stronger more physical player like Glencross could help protect him.

That's a good line-up. You would likely get 240 to 260 goals from that kind of depth under Hartely.

If this is true, I'm really wondering if Feaster has a big deal in his back pocket involving Backlund and Bouwmeester. I can't think of anything else that makes sense. I'm not a fan of losing Backlund's spot to Mueller at this point, but I'd have to wait and see what the deal ends up being (ie. Statsny). Having Stemps on our 4th line makes no sense. He's not a 4th line guy. But if we turn around and land a guy like Statsny, then I'd be all for that.

Yea if we get another forward that isn't a legitimate center either Feaster has decided that faceoffs really don't matter or he has a plan. I am skeptical that we move Jbo as we need him defensively but perhaps a Kipper trade if they think Irving is ready.

Yeah, like I get what some are thinking, but a guy like Stempniak would be utterly useless playing in a 4th line role and there would of been no point in resigning him. I'm all for signing Mueller and taking a risk on him because he's a good talent, but something would abolutely have to give. Tangs, Iggy, Glencross, Cervenka, Hudler, Stempniak, Comeau Jones, and probably Cammy won't be going any where. So that leaves Stajan and Backlund from our forward corps and Bouwmeester and Babchuk from our defense. Something have to be in the works.

Probably just a rumor, but on the mainboard there's a thread that suggests the Flames are interested in Thomas. Highly unlikely but nonetheless interesting. Imagine if we traded for Thomas, then moved Kipper to Chicago for a great package. That would be interesting.
