Wait, are Leafs fans actually thinking JvR will play C this year?

And become a #1C?

lolwat.

It's a small word, but its implications are huge.

I dont think he scores 35 goals or 70 points next year. He's just not that good of a player. I would say 30/35 for 65. But theres no way he's over a PPG next year. Doesnt have a #1 Center to play with and he himself is not good enough.
He got 65 or so points the year before playing with considerably worse linemates. Last year playing with lupul he actually had a good linemate to pass to. I say he gets 38G 45A next year. "He is just not that good of a player." HA no.

I'll say 75. He'll be playing in a less uptempo system.

I think he will have less points this season due to a much more defensive style being employed by Carlyle.

140 of course.... and Crosby gets 130

44 goals and 39 assists.

EDIT: forgot Carlyle is the Leafs coach. Change that to 36 goals and 35 assists.

I'm baffled that I am the only one saying 90 - 104. Herd Mentality maybe? Kessel got 82pts last season. Is +10pts for a player who hasn't peaked really a stretch?

Like I said in the Kessel v. Landeskog thread: a player's progression isn't linear. Nobody ever seems to acknowledge the possibility that their favourite players may stagnate or regress. It happens all the time and Kessel's as susceptible to it as anyone. Just because he's young and has been steadily improving the last few years, that doesn't not mean he will continue to improve in as steady a manner. He may very well have already peaked.

Pretty hard to imagine him not getting 30/35 goals.

I think his overall production will take a small dip because of Carlyle's system.

Also, the JVR at center thing won't last more than 1/2 weeks and it will be back to Lupul - Bozak - Kessel.

I guess you could say the same about Duchene right? His 28pt season is likely to be more of the norm for him. The 67pt season preceding was likely just a fluke and a 14G performance is probably more regular for a player of his calibre..
