Anyone want to throw this out on CBJ's/ and main board? See what they have to say?

Ahh, well going to file this in the BS folder for now then.

They will be saying "Can't wait to see what bounty Howson got us!"

I swear those fans are in for a sad sad awakening whenever Nash is dealt.

If we trade Miller I have plenty of faith they'd find someone that can fill that void, in fact I'd venture to say Hagelin pretty much already replaced Dubinsky last season with four more points in 13 less games. I'll be very surprised if Hagelin doesn't hit ~50 points in a full season. Dubinsky's best season he posted 54 points.
And the season before that, he was on pace for 50+ points. People act like Dubinsky will be difficult to replace because some of us watch the games and notice the problems the team has without him in the lineup. You act like he's easy to replace because you apparently have the memory of a goldfish, and nothing beyond last season matters to you.

Some of us remember that Dubi was our best player just one year ago. Some of us remember that he improved on his numbers every year for his first four years in the league. Some of us remember that he's very good at the things the Rangers are very bad at (faceoffs, board play, getting the puck out of the zone and, with the loss of Prust, PKing).

Ultimately, based on the fact that the team let management know they didn't want that room messed with at the deadline, I'd say that your idea that he would be "easy" to replace is without merit. Common sense refutes it, and so do the players on the team. Do you know more than they do?

Great post. I agree 100% with everything you said. You could tell in the playoffs when Dubinsky came back the team up front improved dramatically, it brought life back to Callahan in the final two games. I want so badly for both he and Arty to stay and play with Cally. See what they do now that they won't be relied on so heavily like in the 10-11 season. They make a perfect third line.

Dubinsky, Boyle, xx (Miller, Thomas, Fast) and 2013 1st for Nash and 2013 2nd/3rd
Hmmmmm ---- is that the final deal?
Not sure I like it, but logical...

Nash - Richards - xx
Kreider - Stepan - Callahan
Hagelin - AA - Pyatt
Rupp - Halpern - Asham

Sign Mueller as a reclamation chance on a short deal to fill for Gaborik until Christmas and then yes, I believe we are in good shape. Thereafter mueller slides down to the third line then and Pyatt to the fourth.
Miller (if not traded) and Lindberg are still both in the pipeline at C.
This I might see as a possible move for Nash we can fathom. Although I have not been a big proponent of this trade at all before...

If Sather was able to move Boyle in that trade, that would be crazy. I doubt it.

Columbus would eat a guy like Boyle up. Decent cap hit to help them stay above the floor, can penalty kill, take faceoffs. He's made for a small market team. You make it sound like
a) We should want him gone....as if he hurts the team or something. He plays as sound a game in both ends as anyone
b) He's got a toxic contract

I think he makes it sound like Boyle doesn't carry a lot of value in a trade for Rick Nash... Which is true.

It's a lot of lunchpailer heart gone from the team but if that's the deal that lands us Nash, we should all take Slats out for the biggest bowl of ice cream he's ever seen. Ben & Jerry should make Slats All Folks a flavor.

Being a tad anal retentive with the post, no?

I would say moving a 3rd/4th line player for a top 6 30 goal winger is fairly shocking. Even if its a package. Especially considering what Howson's previous demands were.

in addition, Scott Gomez was briefly reacquired for the rights to the Sean Avery made for TV movie (which, for some unknown reason, the Rangers owned), before being diverted to Columbus to complete the deal.

"included a player that no one has brought up yet, but is so obvious".

Oh boy, this should be interesting. Watch it be Boyle.

I will be so ****ing pissed.

That being said, it definitely is.

Dubi, Boyle, 1st, (insert prospect)?

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Asham/Pyatt-Anisimov-Callahan
Asham/Pyatt-Halpern-Rupp

I guess I like it.

Apparently, this Greg Caggiano broke the 3rd jersey news a couple of years ago before anyone else according to a post on his twitter page from another poster.

Saw the link and it was just him bringing up the speculation.

Don't know what to make of this.

Really? I'm not in the trade Boyle camp, but if they want him in a deal for Nash, I'd trade him without any hesitation.

With the signing of Halpern, Pyatt and Asham, in addition to Boyle, the Rangers now have four 4th line players. It's so obvious that Rupp and/or Boyle is the player no one has brought up yet...

Seriously, I can't think of anyone outside of the 4th line who HASN'T been brought up. Hagelin hasn't really been mentioned officially, has he? Just speculated on here. Could it be him?

I agree, speaking strictly in terms of value, or on paper.

I just hate to trade a guy whose busted his ass to become better, earned a pretty big role on the team, and then played like a beast all playoffs. Clearly loves being a Ranger, too.

Losing Prust sucked enough, I wouldn't want to lose more of our identity with Boyle. This is not to say I don't think we'd continue to play our style of hockey.

If it's only Dubi+Boyle, plus some picks/mid-prospect(s), no one should really be upset.

I think more realistically its Hagelin. Could be Rupp though. Rupp actually makes more sense than Boyle.

Again, we are just speculating. This could very easily be a false alarm.
