James Wrabel, Jr.‏@TheWrage

#NYR also sign 24 yr old D Logan Pyett to a one year deal. Played in the Red Wings org Depth signing, decent offensive skills, righty shot.

I'd be pretty surprised if Semin signed another 1 year deal, especially with a report based out of Russia, but who knows.

Wouldn't that just take the Pens out of being a supposed suitor for Nash? (Not that I ever believed they were one anyway). And, aside from being discussed here, was Semin ever truly a target for the Rangers? I don't think this has any bearing on Sather's approach. Nash is the likely target, and Sather will get him at a price he's willing to pay.

Lol

He's a small Dman (he's 5'11"). Been playing in the AHL the last couple of seasons. Had 9 goals and 22pts last season. Played on the 2008 gold medal winning Canadian WJC team. Right handed shot.

Don't see him ever seeing the NHL.

I agree with you. Don't know if we were ever really in on Semin.

However o was really hoping he went to Detroit rather that Pitt.

Wasn't saying the Rangers were after Semin. Sather might feel a little more pressure to make some sort of move to improve this team.

That's a problem though. If you are spending 10 mil on the 3rd line, you are likely deficient elsewhere. Cally is a 2nd line player. Artie doesn't make as much money, so is fine on the 3rd line. But for what Dubi is getting paid, he should be more than a 3rd liner.

I'm not throwing him under the bus here. I appreciate all the other things he brings to the table. But at the end of the day, he's being paid to produce like a 2nd line player.

I fully believe that he can be a 50+ point player again. I'm just not sure he can do it with the Rangers. Though if he stays, I'm fine with letting him try.

Why would Sather freak out over Semin? The Rangers weren't signing him.

Ryan-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Morrow-Boyle-Pyatt
Rupp-Halpern-Asham

Haley

McDonaugh-Girardi
Del Zotto-Staal
Erixon-Stralman

Bickel Sauer
I'm starting to get a queasy feeling about a Nash trade; the above deal for Ryan I could live with, but I would hope something else is coming back with Ryan. Would rather put in MDZ and a prospect (not JT Miller) instead of Hagelin, (AA, MDZ, pick, prospect for Ryan and something else, say, a pick or prospect); but the Ducks don't want MDZ. Dubinsky for Morrow doesn't do much for me, especially with the age gap.

Why would you rather deal MDZ over Hagelin...?

I'm not understanding that, either. I also believe that a deal for Ryan will cost more than a deal for Nash.

We now have 20 players under contract on The Rangers. 2 of these are on the LTIR (Gaborik and Sauer) to start the season. Two of our RFAs qualified (MDZ and Stralman) and both will most likely be signed... Bringing the squad to 22 player with 2 on LTIR.
21 players are now signed minor league contracts - whereof two that have received qualifying offers (Wellman and Talbot) and are not formally signed yet. One more player is signed to ELC (JT Miller) but he is still junior eligible, eventually letting that contract slide above 50 player limit. 2 players are also signed but loaned to European clubs (Fast and Lindberg) counting against the 50 player contract limit.
We have some unsigned draft picks that probably will get ELC contracts sometime this year.
Still looking to pick up one player for NYR plus a few for the minor leagues.
Any thoughts here?

MDZ brings a dimension to our D that nobody else in our organization can, barring possibly Erixon. He's physical, and he's still young. He's still learning how to play D, and has made huge strides IMO. People just need someone to crucify. Sure, he had some brain farts late in our playoff run, but Staal had just as many, and gets zero criticism for it.

Hagelin is going to be a very good 2nd/3rd line winger, but he is more replaceable than MDZ at this point.

BTW, I love both players.

It's pretty clear that Boyle is the missing piece for the Jackets. Sather is slowly dismantling the locker room terror caused by Boyle, Prust and Del Zotto. Boyle goes to the Jackets for Nash, which means it's only a matter of time before Del Zotto gets traded for Weber!!

Yes, that was sarcasm.

Scoring 5 goals a game is useless if you give up 10.

The deal for Nash is taking so long because Sather wants Howson to take Redden in a package...
