semin's skill is badly needed on the pens. i've warmed up to the idea of him coming here to help sid more than anything. i want to see sid return to form and win an art ross next year. i think we're a few years away from seriously contending for a cup anyhow, so i dont see a big risk here. get it done ray.

Pretty interesting PP options as you say, should we sign Semin. Being able to throw out any combo of:
Semin/Crosby/Malkin/Neal/Letang/Nisky/Martin? would make any Pens fan drool.

Yeah +/- is what it is but Semin has been pretty impressive. He can backcheck too and participate defensively. If you haven't seen this yet, go forward @ 2:15 ->

If we're a few years away, I'm jumping off the bandwagon until then. I got better **** to do.

look at our defense as it is right now, and tell me it's good enough to win a cup. shero has his work cut out for him.

Good thing the playoffs aren't played in july. I'm pretty sure this defense will be alil different come march.

I would rather look at Mueller or Kristian Huselius, I would have loved to get Latendrese or Boyes, but it is too late now and sign Iginla or Perry in the offseason.

I am not sure why I am so down on Semin, maybe in Pittsburgh it might be different, remember Hossa wasn't really considered a guy who elevated in the playoffs before he played for the Pens

I guess it depends on how one defines a contender. Personally I define one as a team that has the assets to go deep into the playoffs. That is the current lineup. Yes if we're getting picky we can point out that we would like an upgrade on D, and a better winger than Dupuis for Crosby. But this team as it is has the talent to be among the top teams in the east, and go deep into the playoffs.

Yes, it is. Don't confuse our 5 on 5 defense as being the reason we lost the playoff series. Most of the goals against were on the PK and PP. Fleury playing one of the worst series in the history of the NHL playoffs didn't help either. Luckily Vokoun will be the starter well before the next playoff series.
