We don't even know exactly what we have in our rookies. Despres and Dumoulin specifically. How much they've improved from last season, gotten stronger, etc. Plus we have Strait and Bortuzzo. We can't keep pushing the rookies down. We need to have a strong top 4, and allow the 3rd pairing to grow/groom rookies/young players. Personally I hope that we sit Engelland a lot this year in favor of giving Strait/Bort more playing opportunity. We have too many D in the system (especially in the next 2 yrs or so) not to start giving them a chance to play.

You aren't kidding. This is driving me insane. I've got to the point where I'm starving for a sasha signing. I was gonna write semin but boy would you guys have fun with line. If you would of told me that 3 months ago that this is what I would of wanted. I probally would of punched you in the face. 6 hours at the deadline its over u move on for better or worse. You move on. I feel like I'm in purgatory here.

Per Pens Inside Scoop - @PensInsideScoop

#Pens coach Bylsma says team is looking at Doan and Semin as possibilities for top 6. Added Tangradi, Bennett and Kennedy could fit -SK

Bylsma stating how they're only interested at this point, definitely indicates that the report is bogus on Semin agreeing to a 1-year deal. I'm sure all of us were under that assumption already anyway.

You'd have to think the brass are pretty high on Bennett if they're mentioning him as a potential top 6 fit as a rookie.

No way that Bennett is ready for a top 6 job in the NHL.

Kid is a goof ball, he's got a 1 year or 2 of maturing to do.

Not sure the context this was in, but definitely interesting that he said Bennett. To me it seems highly unlikely Bennett makes the team, but I suppose he could get some call up time later in the year. However, I was hoping we'd have a wing solution by then.

You're probably right, but I'm not sure how being a goof ball fits into the equation (unless I'm missing your meaning). No shortage of talented young goof balls making NHL impacts these days.

He won't be. It will likely be:

Kunitz-Crosby-Duper
Kennedy/Tangradi-Malkin-Neal

Why say it like it would be a negative thing?

If BB is in the top six it means he played well enough to be there. We all know DB would rather put a vet in there, so if BB is playing in the top six, it means he played lights out.
