We're getting rid of a righty for a righty? Doesn't make sense with the other 5 d-man on Detroit's roster being left handed. Plus Green hasn't done squat since 09. Not worth throwing Jurco in there.

teams that are in win now mode dont move forward in a 3 asset for 1 deal. the good player is going one way and three lesser assets going the other.

i doubt the caps trade green

My mistake, I thought we were contending for a cup now, not later.

Same as Yandle. We need to improve our defense, not improve our offensive defense. We can get the same out of Green that we'll get from Smith and wont have to give up assets for it.

Not interested in selling off the future for the present. With as stacked as Detroit's prospect pool is, I'm willing to have one or two down years now so as not to give up vital pieces of our future.

I still like Green and all, but if he keeps playing like Lindros then he's going to be worthless...

Either way, its really a joke. Holland didn't let the prime PP and PK monster Green on team Canada, why does he do it for the Red Wings when Green isn't the same Green as before?

If Green had another monster year 15-20 goals, PPG, great on the PK like always, Holland would shove his head up his ass and bash him incessantly because he's an idiot.

Ugh. Datsyuk and Z ain't getting any younger. Win now. Mike Green ain't being had for that proposal though.

Sorry, but a "Win now" attitude isn't what has put us in the playoffs for 21 straight years. (And yes, I do think we're still a playoff team)

I'm not selling off pieces of our future to acquire one player who we basically already have in Smith. We've got multiple good forward and defensive prospects in the AHL, Canadian leagues, and Europe, if we have to have a few average years while waiting for them to hit the NHL, it's worth it over selling them for guys who will fade out faster.

lol all that for Mike Green? We need top dmen. Mike Green is good but he's not worth all of that, especially considering I'd trade Kindl, 2nd, and another prospect but not Jurco.

Thank God somebody else realizes it. Now maybe we can begin to cease these proposals for terrible defensive defenders like Green and Yandle.

at Yandle and Green being 'terrible' defensive defenders. Really gives you an insight into who's actually watched the players on a regular basis when you see statements like that.

You're right, Yandle's great at defense, as is evidenced by the nine seconds he played on the PK on average last year. Or should we get into the fact that he never hits and his giveaway count triples his takeaway count?

Steve Yzerman was in charge of Team Canada, that probably explains why Holland didn't put him on the team.

Yet more evidence of what I suspected.

I suppose the fact that Datsyuk was 7th among forwards on the Red Wings in PK time is indicative that he's their 7th best defensive forward?

Look, Green has never been seen as a defensive guy. He's adequate and his game is exactly what it is. Not sure what Wings fan is saying when they keep saying they need defensive defensemen. How many Bob Rouse or Jaime McCoun type guys have they had in the last 20 years?

No deal. Detroit doesn't need more defensive liability, while trading away a hot commodity in a 2013 first rounder (one of the best draft years in the last 15-20, so the scouts/GM's say).

I suppose the fact that he can actually hit other players and doesn't giveaway the puck 50 more times than he takes it away indicates that he is?

By the way, please don't try to compare PK forwards to PK defenders, because they're not the same. You don't put your top forwards out to take point blank slapshots to the head. Aside from that, you have far more forwards available to kill a penalty than you do defenders.
