No, if BB is in the top 6 it means Shero has failed to get anything for us this offseason. He is no where near ready for the NHL......he has had injury troubles to this point in his College career and probably should have stayed another year there so he could dominate competition. Im not convinced he's going to do well this year even in the AHL.
Very weird to me that he got moved to pro when he hasnt shown much in College yet.
how can you even say he has injury problems. Pens fans were so defensive when people said Staal had injury problems for a freak accident and now we're readily throwing that label on our own guys. Get real.
Uh there are four top six spots and last time I did my math, even if Shero got another top six winger, that still leaves a top six spot most likely filled by Dupuis yet again.
The thing is that I would not mind that if Crosby had a sniper of Semin's or Parise's caliber on the other side. We get into problems when Dupuis is Crosby's go to guy instead of the grit guy on the line playing the same role Kunitz does on the Malkin line.

Desprès with Letang? I like the sound of that. Letang and Martin were kind of good together and I think Desprès can be way better than Martin. He will need time to adjust to playing with a guy liek LEtang, but he should be fine, he has the skills to do so.
Plus, it would give us more balanced pairings.
Desprès - Letang
Martin - Niskanen
Orpik - Engelland
Not too bad.
you know I've had the idea that this would be the pairings by the end of the season in the back of my mind for a wile.
and 37 the year before, as a freshman. College seasons are around 40 games. If we're gonna be tagging people as injury prone lets not use 30 games of their college careers as 19 year olds, as the only qualification.
If Despres is paired with Tanger and Martin stays, there's gonna be a serious battle for the 6/7 spots. Engelland/Strait/Bortuzzo/Dumoulin/Morrow.
Agreed but I wouldn't put Morrow on that list unless he's a regular on the 3rd pairing. He has too much upside to spend his 1st year of pro hockey bouncing around between 6th and 7th spot.
There has to be some way to make money of Bennett's good looks. What's the name of Barbie's new boyfriend doll again? The Australian surfer dude? He looks exactly like that.
Martin would be a damn fine number 5 next to Engelland
Hey, he should have to work his way back up the depth chart after last year's **** show. Lucky he even made #5.

Like Jig said, there are two top 6 spots available, provided one wants to move Dupes out of the top 6 (I think most do). Further, Bennett's coach at DU had this to say on his departure:
Quote:
"Beau is big-time talent who would have put up big numbers for us last season if it wasn't for his injury. We wish Beau continued success and hope to see him in the NHL soon."

I get what you mean, but my point is that if BB is in the top six, that isn't a bad thing like this cat was trying to say.
I'll take BB over Dupuis in the top six every day of the week.
If BB pushes Dupuis out of the top six, it means he played well and that can only be seen as a positive to me.
Also, BB in the top six doesn't mean Shero didn't acquire another winger. Four spots, two current legit wingers.
Only in California would someone name their child Beau. I am glad he is up over 200 pounds, in the schools I grew up at he would not have gone a day without someone fighting him with that name.

42 game season year before he missed 5.....then last yr he missed all but 10.
I'm not saying he's Martin Havlat made of glass. I'm just saying he hasnt shown me a lot in College and I dont think he's nearly ready for the NHL.

bro, he was most likely scratched a few games during his freshman season as a 170 pound 18 year old in a big time D-1 program.
I actually think he had an injury (knee?) his freshman season. Either way, one legit injury where he missed a few weeks and one totally freak injury. I'm not going to call him injury prone.

what's that supposed to mean? we got into plenty of scraps.
