Have you watched how the Habs have used him. JM was an idiot and played a goal scorer on the 4th line.

Palushaj outplayed the opposition at the end of last season which is a good sign, especially when he struggled earlier. I wouldn't give up on him yet as he hasn't really showed us what he's capable of.

agreed...

if we don't externally fill those top-9 winger holes, i wouldn't be surprised at all to see him secure an opening day spot.

Especially with a coach like Therrien, a guy with the work ethic/willingness to do anything type attitude that Palushaj reportedly has, should be in a good position to earn a spot if he can perform well in camp.

really would like to see a line of Maxpac-DD-Palushaj get some time together in camp... Palushaj has enough offensive skill/creativity to complement those 2 & if they can click, the line should be able to be similarly effective used the way they were last year.

Best part is freeing up Cole to play on either Pleks/Eller's line.

Yeah, just like many other call-ups, like a certain Desharnais. It's the nature of the beast.

Even on the 4th line, I expect some flashes of offensive instincts or "top six skills" like Eller and DD showed. Palushaj has not yet.

Palushaj will get top 9 minutes with some quality players and a lot of people will change their opinion of him. He might even be getting top 6 by mid season.

Since I didn't watch too much Habs hockey last year (exchagne in Amsterdam for a while and the brutal season didn't help)... I do recall seeing Palushaj get some good scoring chances or making plays using his speed... obviously he nor his linemates converted but as I have read numerous times... those are the scrubs that the bottom 6 (and unfortunately even top 6 at times) have to deal with...

Give him a real chance and re-evaluate after the first 20 games

Looks like the same Bouillon related arguments are popping up as they did in these old threads... Anyways, at least he will be good for entertainment. All I'm saying is I predict by mid-season people will be frustrated at Therrien constantly playing him over some young player, he will be MT's version of the Martin-Darche, IMO. Anyways, bring on the Cube, I don't know if he's the player we need but he'll still work his ass of and be a good teammate .

Has Palushaj played with Eller? They could have good chemistry together.

This could be our bottom six :

Moen-Eller-Palushaj
Prust-White-Armstrong

Its pretty solid. Prust or Armstrong can get shift on the third line when the going gets rough.

Dallas and Chicago will now be two teams dead in the water.

Lets offer Chicago Gomez, Blunden and Stejskal for Bolland, Teuvo Teravainen and a russian D prospect.

Why would the blackhawks have this man anywhere near their organization.

Leblanc will likely start the season in Hamilton and Palushaj will be given ~30-40 games in the top-9 to see if he can carve himself a niche here in Montreal. I like the idea of Louis in Hamilton because he'll have a leadership role for the younger guys coming in, and hopefully he can develop the offensive side of his game more because as of right now it's disappointing.

'Cause you don't actually know who you are getting till you get them. Besides, Dallas looks at the Habs and put the blame on Gauthier. Chicago looks at the Habs and put the blame on Gainey. To each their own. Seriously, it is possible that Gauthier works better in another environment. We still don't know to which extent he'd be working though. Could just be as a special consultant.

Seems that Gauthier will be hired as a pro scout. Come on Bergevin...here's your chance buddy. Dallas or Chicago!!!!

How is the offensive side of his game disapointing? He had 22 points in 31 AHL games, that's where he should have stayed the whole year but with all the injuries and trades he ended up in Montreal.

Given his shoulder surgery(plus no camp or preseason) I was expecting 55-60 points in the AHL over a full year. numbers in the AHL project to 29-29-58 over 82 games. I was expecting him to need 1.5-2 years AHL so hopefully they give him another half to full year this year.

I think it's disapointing to those fans whose expectations were too high to begin with. "Local 1st round pick" does not equal "impact point producer."

Personally, I was actually pleasantly surprised by LL's first pro season. I'll stick with my comp for him - Chris Higgins - in a good way. Teams can win the cup with his player type filling a somewhat important role. Rob Niedermayer with the champion Ducks team would be another comp.

I think Gomez and Kaberle would light Gauthier's eyes up. There's just no way he could say no. He might just give up Toews for them.

I seriously wonder if Toronto would give him a shot. It's the only fit I can think of off the top of my head, anyway.

Good for Gauthier if true. His inter-personal skills weren't the greatest, but he wasn't as bad as people portray him. He gambled big time on Markov and took it up the rear for not thinking of a backup plan.

He did not gamble on Markov. Everyone knew they had to sign him. They couldn't afford to let another big name free agent go to market without any compensation.

Gauthier did two things. Kept Price and signed Cole.
The rest were horrible or just incredibly short-sighted.
