Don't want to sound too naive, but would not the fact that he's a fruad drive all those followers away?

It's hard to share any inside information these days.

Years ago you could feel pretty confident that you weren't going to expose yourself. These days, everyone is online and they know where to check for stuff, as well as how to figure out who is posting certain information.

Teams and execs have also caught onto which message boards tend to have people with connections, and as a result they sometimes put out false information.

None of that takes into consideration the absolute frustration of having to either argue with people who are new to these boards and who want to challenge your sources, or want you to reveal way too much information. Perhaps most of all, rumors are like weather patterns, they can change very quick. You might report a deal that is 90 perent done, only to have it fall apart. Then not only do you look like an idiot, or an imposter, but you also run the risk of ruining your relationship with a source.

It's a thankless job and frankly, at some point, you just find it easier to avoid.

For an immature mayfly just craving their 15 brief minutes in the limelight, that might be so. Anyone with an ambition of sustainability and future credibility - well yeah, you are on the money....

people who make twitter accounts and pose as fake insider sources and even people who make fake twitter accounts of pro athletes are so pathetic and have nothing else in their lives.

Sure some probably did, some think it's funny so they don't and some are too lazy to unfollow. Whatever the case the guy just wanted 15 minutes.

I know what losers!! I am so much of a better person by obsessively checking this board during work, repeatedly hitting the F5 key craving some news.

Sadly, I will admit there are communications professionals who truly believe that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Even more disheartening, they have their followers and disciples.

And that's all I say on that, considering it's off-topic.

Fake rumors are a *****...

But at the same time, there is no way of knowin what's fake or not. I hear alot of stuff on the SEL from very good sources, and I doubt more than 5% of what I hear materialize. Sooner or later I will hear something that is of relevance for us, and if it was informal I might post it here, but odds would still be that it won't happen.

could say the same about people posting on an internet forum... no?

guy got exactly what he wanted: attention/followers. you can't believe anything a reporter says until it's been confirmed by the league/proven reliable sources. if anyone believes everything on twitter it's their own fault.

I agree. I mean, I wish that he would hook up those of us who appreciated it and find a way to screen off the rest of the thankless punks that will just yell at him.

It's a big loss for this board. I mean, not only was he an insider, but he was also a great fan and a great poster.

can you not distinguish the difference between a bunch of people having a discussion about a pro sports team and someone who purposely misinforms thousands of people to get attention?

The intent of my post was not to be taken seriously, I was trying to be light hearted about it. As evidenced by my emoticon. I never claimed to be George Carlin but thought you'd get a laugh out it. Bob Richards, are you still here??? Bob??

So to answer your question, yes I can. Thanks Stugots.

You guys can speak for yourselves, but I really am a fictional character from a game I played back in high school.
