This team is not better....slower, yes..but not better.

This team cannot have both Doan and Clowe on it. Speed seems to be the most important ingredient in the playoffs these days and this will not get it done. Semin yes, Doan no.

Its scary how the Kings have plenty of cap space to make that team even scarier. I hate you Quick and your damn 1.8m cap hit.

My prediction is that if Semin doesn't sign NHL for ~7M/yr, he'll go KHL for 12M/yr.

If the Kings get Doan he will make a good team even scarier. This is where DW works the "yeah but we still beat them when no one else can" angle.

I would take Semin over Doan as well. I think he's the missing piece to the #1 line. He and Joe would tear it up.

Marleau-Joe-Semin
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Wingels-Pavelski-Galiardi
Desjardins-Zeus-Burish

Agreed that Semin would look great with Jumbo, but come on people its probably not going to happen. We have been rumored to be interested in Doan, and if we get him we're a heck of a lot better off than we were before. Plus Doan will come cheaper most likely, and we might have room to get another third liner as well.

Even better if we could trade for Morrow.

Semin over Doan is an easy decision. The question is whether Sasha is interested in us.

Morrow will probably play less than 50 games this year he's a broken player.

Semin won't come here we don't have any Russian players and aren't located on the east coast. Also DW doesn't like Russians.

Semin is a much better player than Heater (and I'm a huge Heater fan) and will probably cost much less because of the 'Russian factor'.

I will resist pointing out the irony of many people saying Morrow is now past it. What it really boils down to is personal preference.

he just got done with a 6.7 million 1 year contract, heatley is on a 7.5 million contract. it won't be much less. semin won't sign in the nhl for anything under 7 million is my guess.

especially after seeing parise sign a massive contract.

It is correct. Look at the impact he would have had on our team though with his 'past it' numbers.

No, wouldn't offer Clowe that but as is rightly pointed out, he'll get paid as a UFA too. It's the way things are.

Agent for Shane Doan is doing a good job of drumming up interest for his client...it's going to take 3 or 4 yrs to sign him

I hope DW is willing to give him term, thats why we lost out on Willie Mitchell. I'd do 4.5m/4years maybe up to 5m. Make it happen Mr. Wilson!

He just came off a $6.7M contract, but he didn't play as well as he did the season before it. I think he'd get around $6.5M for maybe 4 years. Much better than giving Doan $5M over that same time.

him not playing to well, still put up 21 goals, and 54 points (77 games), all while trying to learn a new system.

he is not going to take a pay cut, hence why he is not signed. or there has not 1 rumour of him being offered a contract by someone yet.

if semin signs for more then 1 year, it will be over 7 million.

another thing have you ever heard of a prime ufa ever taking a pay cut? the agent would be villified by the nhlpa and the other agents for allowing his client to take a pay cut in the prime of his career.

Doan can play a full season, Morrow can barely play half of one.

Well, I mean he didn't play well on the surface.

Give him one year, $6M then. I haven't seen anything about his demands at all. He's been really on the down-low.

He's probably been in the Motherland.
